This week I've had several girls mention their desire for a big, beefy man (in one case a direct quote, other just with minor phrases like "big strong arms"). The only girls I know that don't seem to want a big beefcake...want other women. Even the women-wanting ones seem to want beefcake men, with the woman standards being more flexible. Does this mean every time I see a woman with a small guy, short or skinny or both, that they have settled?

I have to start paying attention to marketing - not getting any younger, ya know. I've lifted weights for over ten years, and while I am often referred to as 'fit' or 'in shape' I realize I'll never be beefy or big (often meaning tall). Unless I pull a gattaca, I'm stuck at my current height.

So, the logical pursuit is to become more woman-like.

no. I don't like men who are much bigger than I am.

Its a personal preference thing, and remember that who people say they want and who they will actually date are often two different things.

I mean, I "want" a brad pitt look a like, but I'm with Chris (who looks more like duckie dale :) and couldn't be happier.

I guess what i'm trying to say is, take what people say about things like this with a grain of salt.

Yeah what Telie said. I don't like big beefy guys. Tall or tall-ish is cool - just because it's a bit odd being taller than my boyfriend when I've got high heels on - but again, not necessary. My general guideline is try not to weigh more than 50% more than I do.

Further to Telie's point, how many guys (oh, 99% perhaps?) say they like girls with big or at least medium boobs, but went out with me anyway? ;)

I say I cut off at a b-cup, but will tolerate larger breasts on people I like. I really think I spend my time on the wrong gender!

Aside from Brad Pitt, I don't like really beefy guys. Johnny Depp isn't beefy or particularly tall, and he's one of the hottest guys alive.

Your vote doesn't count - your man is tall.

I have always been most attracted to lean, lanky men. Beefcakes tend to be a big turn off. However, beefcake primates are an exception. Oh, the things I could do to a beefy Silverback gorilla...

That would be another vote for 'tall.' Lean+lanky = tall. Next!

Whatever, fool. I like little, lean and lanky. Someone like Urkel.

My boy right now may be tall, but that has not always been the case.... and I do not like my guys to be really "manly" men... sigh, maybe I am proving my point....
I used to have a great button that sums it up..." I like my men in skirts and my women in combat boots"

Can't speak for all women, but in my case I can answer with a resounding NO.

Hmm, my vote...
I used to date guys about my size. Then for years I dated huge guys, like twice my size (up to 6'9", 350 pounds). For the past few years I've mostly dated slimmer guys, about 6'. The one I'm with now is almost 5'8" and about 250. He calls himself short but he's definitely not small (48" chest and 50" waist).
Looks are less important to me than personality. But frankly, if I dated you, I'd feel fat. He makes me feel small and keeps telling me I am.

I heard on the radio yesterday morning that 96% of women say they find a bodybuilder physique on a man repulsive.

Unless, perhaps, he is tall?

5'5" here, maybe 5'6" but you shrink with age.

Alan is my ideal type. He says he's 5'8" but so am I and I'm slightly taller than him when we're both barefoot. On a good week, he weighs in at 135. He has incredible arms, mostly from doing 500 push-ups per day. *rawr*

For every body type...there's someone with a fetish for it. Mind you though..that you might not be attracted to THEM. But, somewhere out there...you're someone's dreamboat ;)

I'm into generalizations. I don't care if I'm the perfect fit for some freak in Moldova that I'll never meet. I'm all about marketing to the widest possible audience.

I dunno what to tell ya, hon. Everyone has different types. My type is pretty different from what everyone else on your comments list has posted. I kinda fit the audience you were discussing (beefy/muscley and tall)...but look at me...ya know? And I realize that there are only a small percentage of folks that'd be into me. It's just the way things work out, ya know? I'd love to be 100 lbs and 5'6 (and totally fit with a smaller ass and smaller tits...and brunette)...it'd broaden my dating range as I'd be more of guy's type than I am now...ya know?

Yikes, that = me + 2 inches in height & - 15 pounds! That's sounds unhealthily skinny, I think you look much better now than you would if you were 100 lbs & 5'6, hun.

I'm with Sir Mix A Lot & the whole "Baby got back" thing - 36, 24, 36...huhuh ONLY if she's 5'3...so cosmo says your fat, well I ain't down with that...cause your waist is small and your curves are kicking....

Curves are fun...and not just in driving! (I still must get you that metal-techno mix!)
From: [identity profile] thefeline.livejournal.com
Curves aren't fun...I'd rather be short, brunette, skinny and have straight hair. Apparently that's the flavor these days. Ya know? Not that I'm really interested in dating or anything related to that overly much these days ;)

I do not know a man smaller than I am....so every man I know has big strong arms, in relation to mine!

The tall-lanky-super toned bodies I thought were "beefcake" in my late teens and early twenties are the bodies I now want to FEED, I want to put meat on their poor bones.

I considered my X (the Tae Kwon Do instructor), (who you met) to be "beefy" & you are he are the about the same height and size.

Big and beefy to one woman might be 5 foot 7 170 pounds. To another woman, it might be 6 foot 350 pounds. And I am both those women, I LOVE them all! Short, tall, stalky, beefy, meaty can all = YUMMY.

Just because YOU don't think you fit the mold, doesn't mean you don't.....please go find a real problem to whine about (kidding!). You are just WAY to critical of your self dude!

Ha! You've fallen into my trap! I've demonstrated the tremendous strength and stamina required to whine about nothing - a demonstration that proves I am in fact beefy! Who else but BEEF would have the ability to waste so much energy on nothing! Ha!

A bite in the right place and anyone is huge and powerful, in my world.

I'll admit it, I am for beefy and tall. I find it an extremely sexual turn on for a man to be bigger and taller than me so that my head fits right under his chin when i'm standing with him. This does not mean that I may find other men visually appealing, I simply won't be turned on in the same way. Understand that I am highly selective to begin with so this is simply one of my required trait.

Just to be honest, and really blunt, the number one turn off a guy could do would be exactly what you are writing right here: "I can't find any women". Then if they decide they like you - you think _they_ are the one who is settling.

Thanks for the honesty, but I didn't mean for this to sound like whining per se...more a commentary on recent conversations and my usual negative interpretation. Number of options don't seem to be a problem for me right now, to be blunt.

I am so confident that I enjoy doing the most awful things you can possibly do! Next I'll actively whine that "I can't get laid" thing to really try and look icky. Understand this is LJ land - a place where I will not ever meet potential lovers etc. You make a good point, but hopefully one that is not applicable to me.

Or I'm just kinda high because someone kinda cute just did that turn-around and smile thing to me! I was rated!
