NY's Sarah tuned me into this DC CP gem, and if you don't read "The sexist" each week you really should:

Christian side-hug to avoid improper touching.

So if these fake hiphop christian teens are standing on the wrong corner at the wrong time, I'm guessing none of them will hug or tackle a friend if, somehow, they get involved in a drive-by and they want to protect a friend from a bullet? Like in Hollywood movies?

Oh no - I'm sure they're for real. There seems to me to be a lot of wacky hip-hop religion stuff, as real as Farrakhan muslims.

I think the issue was with the recipient (d'oh!)

Full frontal hugging: Sinful
Getting the crowd pumped with police sirens and gunshots: AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW SHI-I MEAN, YEAH!

Murder is a family value.
Same sex crotch touching is not.

Pretty much. That was one of the big wtf's of christian moral values, to me; the dangers of sex and the indifference of violence. In the first verse, they threaten to send you home in a coma if they catch you front hugging or kissing. Obviously it's tongue-in-a-respectable-distance-away-from-cheek, but that that is something ok to be flippant about yet having crotches or chests lightly press through several layers of clothing, in a friendly manner, is bad enough to deserve instructional warnings...

I might post this alone later

This is an argument my mom raises, and I heartily endorse, about the abortion-health care issue. The catholic church has interpreted the bible to mean at least two things:
1. Churchy people should help the health of others, particularly the poor (to include food and medical care)
2. Churchy people should fight abortions

Now what's funny is the catholic church is fighting the abortion issue by removing support from health care if it provides it, fighting and ostracizing polititians who support it, and cutting services to the poor if they're required to either not-discriminate against gays or not-fight abortions.

So it's ok to throw out feeding and giving healthcare to the poor with the bathwater of abortion? The same source of their obligation to fight against something is the source of their obligation to do something - how they separate the two is beyond my current logic.

In the abortion debate, I can almost see it...still not agree with it, but they view abortion as murder so it at least lends some moral weight to their stance. But when they threaten to cut off charity functions and abandon the poor and hungry who depend on them, over gay marriage? Ignoring the literally hundreds of biblical passages instructing them to aid the poor if the local government merely awknowledges a legally binding contract of love between two same sex people? FUCK you assholes.
