It's worth noting that I am a bit of a snob when it comes to musicals. Sweeney is an EXTREMELY difficult role to sing, and what Depp actually admitted is that he really isn't a strong enough singer to do it justice. Homewrecker Bonham-Carter can't sing at all. But Burton has to use his pet actors in everything, even if they aren't suited for the roles.

Meanwhile, it is, technically a musical. But it is not exactly what you might be thinking about with state fairs and big dance routines where everyone is happy and knows their dance steps. It's gory. And dark. And kinda spooky. And there are songs about things like baking people into meat pies.

I feel awful about it, you know. I go to all the meetings, drink the drinks, do the dance...I even like Oz (that one, not that one) but musicals? Ick. < shame >
