Oct. 5th, 2007 05:15 amMy dad sat in a chair yesterday - was respirator free for 6 hours.
I'm in Boston - wtf is there to do here if you're by yourself? I think I'm stuck...there is a chance I can change my flight, but if not - where can I go, what is there to do? Any suggestions appreciated - particularly if they're on the subway line. Lisa made some suggestions but...I've already forgotten because I'm a twit.
I ran into a woman (girl?) who has a MA in I/O and works around B'more. Neato...it's rare to find someone with the same degree. No surprise - she works in HR. Holy god I'm sick of my coworkers and union officials. I hate to say it, but the union guys are generally lazy, crazy, and annoying / disruptive. The stereotype has been reinforced by this trip.

Date: 2007-10-05 01:00 pm (UTC)I guess what I'm saying is that when I'm somewhere new by myself, I eat, read, walk and people-watch.
Holy crap, it just occurred to me to check roadside america and Boston has much to recommend it.
Ether Dome, "the historic site of the first use of anesthesia in a surgical procedure".
Ether Monument
Hood Milk Bottle, apparently supposed to be a concession stand.
The Mapparium, "a low-tech experiment in optical overload that no one would have the time or money to build any more".
Warren Anatomical Museum, apparently having "a collection of oddities akin to Philadelphia's Mutter Museum and DC's National Museum of Health and Medicine." Including the skull and crowbar of Phineas P. Gage.
Clearly, you will need more time in Boston, not less.

Date: 2007-10-06 01:53 am (UTC)I'll try to ask my family if they know anything about Boston anymore, but it will probably be too late. I have family in Rhode Island, but that won't help you either.
