Dec. 1st, 2015 07:49 pmSomehow after another day of nothing I continue to feel exhausted and overwhelmed. Yet I barely left the house by noon, spent thousands of dollars, considered thousands of dollars more, and then...I'm done. Emails, organizing, and I'm just going to play games and sleep.
My samsung tv from 2009 is dying. This makes me sad, but I'm lucky it's started a "ghost image" problem so I can actually still watch it - rather than just dying all at once. I get a warning. I'm weirded out that after only 6 years it is dying, but I am used to old technology. I realize the odds of it being worth fixing are about nil.
I was lucky that I called first - the same outlet store I checked out before took about 20 rings to answer the phone, so no, I couldn't hold (I responded to the guy who answered) but all I needed to know was whether they had stackable w/d for elec - which they did not. So I called Potato Mills and got a VERY helpful person who said they did but come on down and he'd check some options. So I drove down in the rain, and met this nice very old man with very few teeth left who smelled vaguely like pee. He walks slow, and so do I to match, while I wonder why he still has to work retail for a living at his age. It makes me sad, concerned, and a little curious. Could it be he's just happy to have a mission in life and this is fun? Was he a scam victim with his life savings destroyed by crooks? Did health problems rob him of retirement?
I did get appliances, which does make me happy. I was surprised to find garbage disposals at $50 each, I paid $40 each (recently I threatened to ask my contractor to put garbage disposals on all the toilets).
For a pair of samsung WF42H5000

I paid about $900 for the pair.
I also picked up a regular stainless steel lined dishwasher for a regular $500, with a delivery fee to cover both. However...it took about an hour (ok a long time) to get checked out. Only writing this post did I realize he forgot to ring up the stacking kit...but presuming I can call and get that fixed, it's all to be delivered Monday (what time I'll be told in a phone call Sun).
Then I hit the tile store and narrowed down my options to 4 different wood-looking tiles for the basement, more than doubling the price of the materials most likely.
