Where the hell did this week go?
Dec. 4th, 2015 08:26 amI'm annoyed that eljay forces you to have a non-deleteable tag of "home" because I made house first, so typing h gets 2 options. That's way to much work fuckyoueljay.
I'm seriously disturbed by the recent shootings. Remember what I do and who I face for a living.
I'm sad to discover my outlet trip may have just been a ripoff. I made out ok only because of the manager's discount, but the machines I saw were on sale for black friday and more, so if I saved money it is only $100-200, and that for getting scratch and dent over boxed. The dishwasher was probably just too much.
Veronica preaches, as have others, that I don't value my time enough. When I take time to nap, watch craptv, and play video games it seems saving money by shopping is worth it. Now I think if I enjoy it sure, but I'm considering upping what I'll pay for.
Houseramble: Sick of it.
Rent prices have fallen both in Arlington and in DC. This is the worst time to rent anything out and the prices vary based on college schedules.
Shopped for floor tile for the basement and found $5.50-7/sf tiles, then decided they didn't look different enough to pay more than the $1.59/sf I had picked earlier (was 1.99, then 1.78, since dropped). Ok, Scott gave me permission as I don't trust my own fashion/color sense.
Budget for a 60/61" double sink vanity was $500, but from-the-store options are $1k to 2k. Thinking of going for it based on the fact I'll see it. Every. Day. My hands, elbows, and spit go here.
Decided to redo the stairs, which are now a series of temporary 2x4s when I visit.
Kitchen floor is installed.
Powder room tile picked out, even though I nearly got giant hexagons or escher art tile, because it's not a feature I found a basic marble pattern that's easy to keep clean but not too cheap. I might get naughty wallpaper though.
Fan is installed in the master bath, but I asked and he agreed to change it. We always talked about humidity sensors, 6 settings to delay when it turns off, but instead a fan was installed that just turned on with the light. Uh-uh, not next to my bed. Fan must be able to be left on without the light. Fight and hide biology.
(ironically I'm going to try and make cookies today called "Unicorn poop" )
The master shower fixture is set up, and it _does_ have a side shower sprayer. It looks like a silver pointy stick. If it isn't meant for an enema, well it'll still make some decent alien abduction jokes. I may put a glass shelf in the wall-cubby. But fuckery - it is SO SEXAH. That shower. That marble wall. Egads.
Theoretically I'm moving into the place next weekend (12/12 or so). However I'm not using a company as I think this may change, AGAIN, and will only be on the top floor. Sure, I shouldn't move in before it's ready, but I kind of need to be where my taxes are going. I also want to be in touch with the place regularly. So I plan to divvy up my clothes and make a working pile there, set up a desk/office that functions, and move the futon there as a bed. It will be awar construction zone, but I can run to V's house or my Arlington place if I want. I won't have a kitchen or living room, and may not have stairs. There will be noise, smells, dust, and who knows what else. Most doors are not installed, including closet, no closets are set up, and there are no closet shelves/bars.
So move in day is tentative and really just "clothes in car" day, with a side of futon. Might have V pull in her zipcar subscription to get a station wagon or van for a few hours.
