Got a text from my contractor today notifying me the home passed the plumbing inspection. That means he can pour the slab (lay the basement floor) which opens up a lot more work to get done:
Basement floor goes in, pipes connected and potentially running now that there is theoretically a drain, underpinning if that permit is good, and of course digging up the yard to reach the main water line to the street. This also allows for framing, plumbing, and electric in the basement unit as well - even storage of junk/appliances if I so choose.

Still pending are electric and framing, so walls can't go up in the main floors. I suspect and hope this means flooring may get started though. Jordan noted kissing up and telling DC how smart they are as the final steps...I wished him my condolences.

My god I'll ever live there.

Related - a neighbor in Arlington asked me about rental rates, and I found zillow lists rates really well. It seems a 2br in my area goes for 2650 on up...I suspect ours are less than that, but again...those prices do not suck. I'll stay in touch with her to see what she gets as a comparison - that'll be handy.

Today at work I got a 2 year old decision on a case on appeal to the FLRA (exceptions to an arbitration decision). I can talk about this in more detail than usual as FLRA crap is public. We got the loss I expected, remanding the case back to the Arbitrator to explain why he denied the Union attorney fees. What I was thrilled to find, and did not expect, was a dissent that not only agreed with my arguments regarding the untimeliness of the appeal, but diving into the substance of the case with great relish - lambasting the arbitrator for reducing the disciplinary action against someone who allowed a food making establishment to become invested with rodents. I literally ran around the office shouting and shoving the thing in people's faces. The first lines referred to the proceedings as a bad reality show...it was GLORIOUS (as much as my line of work can be).

Makes me feel silly for having applied to other jobs.

My new coworker was in and I shared with her my analysis of how in our jobs we work 25% less than billable hours and 60% of the total hours that she was just working...she hooted and laughed out loud, with joy I think. She walked away from money to work with us.

Me, I realized that my scale of what money it would take to make me work more hours is a logarithmic one, while actual pay is more on a linear scale. As such, fuggit.

I'm a little...slowed down. I'm adjusting to my life again.

The guy who hit my car kept falling through and not following through on promises, so I gave up and filed with my insurance - I gave him a last chance in the sense I just said it was what I was doing and he said to give them his phone #. I had no idea my deductible was only $100 for comprehensive - which as the car was parked I think is covered. I'm set up for an estimate on Monday morning so we'll see if they declare it totaled or worth fixing.

With my workout bud injured I've gone to a down week as literally all my weights were going down. I'm not the machine that asshole is, fucker. Not so subtly wish I was getting those results. I'm still sore that my prowler work did not seem to carry over to basic jogging, as a whopping 2 miles -slow- winded me and left me sore for 3 days. You can only do what you do.

My mom visits next week.
