It's curtains for you
Aug. 23rd, 2012 07:52 amTo my dismay, my downstairs neighbor reported the same experience I had:
a loud sound (I said thud, he said explosion)
feathers on the living room window
a dead hawk on the ground
feeling horrible about it
Oddly people do put stickers of shadows in the window to scare birds from flying into them - but usually the shadow is a hawk. Until recently, the parent (or 2?) and 3 babies were in fact hawks - would they avoid a shadow of "mom?"
I think the hawks ate all our robins. I know they've taken out some squirrels. I feel bad for the hawk, but I also hated to see the slow painful deaths of so many other residents. Nature is horrible.
I have taped a piece of wrapping-tissue paper to the middle of my window.
