aka Relationship Ideas That Should Be Obvious But Aren't.

If there are any danger signals about me in the above, it would have to be that I hear I can be a dick. I say some pretty inconsiderate things about others, and have issues with being judgmental. It's something I continue to work on, but yeah...flaw. I often wonder if I'd like myself if I met my time-traveling doppelganger. Well, the answer to that question is much easier than I realized...respect everyone and make everyone feel as if they are valued, and yes...you'll like you. Try to be that world in which everyone, within reason, is accepted for who they are and what they do. Let people be a little bit of a dick - you don't know how their day was or how they see the situation (without being a doormat or allowing egregiously bad behavior). If you have problems with people, deal with the behavior in question - not the person's character. ie calling someone a dick is a world apart from saying they are a dick. So, yeah. Don't be a dick, Jose.

For me not being a dick seems to involve changing how I react inside, because the route from brain to mouth is without gates.

Computer stuff:
The HP Pavilion Media Center m8200n has officially bit it. I was seriously thinking of upping the video card, scared to do so because I don't know how and not sure if I did that the tv-tuner & remote would still work. The on-board graphics were fine for speed as I only used it for tv watching, but it only had vga out and my tv doesn't allow you to change picture size with vga for some reason.

Now the hard drive has died. It had trouble booting once in a while, but now it takes over ten tries (disk error) to get it to boot, and when left on it crashes all the way to blue screen. Tried doing restores but it fails to find the hd at all. The refurb is only a year old, so I'm surprised. Does HP have a shitty reputation I don't know about? Either way, with both the graphics card sub-standard and now the hd dead...it's not worth saving. I suppose I might be able to get a restore which could change how it communicates with the hd - this worked last time it thought the hd was dead (and didn't it just update?) but if this is a recurring issue it's not worth the trouble. Good thing I didn't return the cable box & remote.

Love google chrome. I have to use ie for some sites or programs, and it's amazing to me how slow ie is and how often it not only hangs up, but locks you out of everything while it does. I don't know why google is faster even with just one screen running, but I'm not addicted and can't stand sitting around waiting for a fussy ie page to load. Firefox is also slow, so I've cut all the shortcuts even while I retained the program (for now).

EDIT - spoke too soon, computer foomped again

T-shirt idea: Churchophobe
(not meant to be a dick, meant to be an interesting commentary and quite honest revelation that not all churchy people are the vile scum that dominate US politics or terrorist organizations, that some and possibly many do care about doing good in the world and just happen to believe in things that have no evidence to exist)
