"The “cliché” then is that identity politics rule the day—that poems dealing with race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or angry politics in general will do better in poetry slams than a piece of surrealism or a poem about flowers or puppy dogs (Unless the puppy dogs are owned by a Latina lesbian who was just released from prison after a long sentence for drug charges, in which case the puppy dog poem may do quite well)."

To my dismay Canaydia continues to raise the bar with their poetry schedule

Yeah, I know, I know...poetry. Fuggoff.
Speaking of exciting, did my taxes. Feb 3, taxes done. Not necessarily done right (does a man who does his own taxes have a fool as a client?). HUGE rebate this year, only a tax rate of 18% on what was left, or about 10% of income when all was said and done. With no stock sales to drag me down, rental expenses higher than income, higher charitable contributions, tax-free home sale profit...the high interest payments on a primary residence resulted in less taxable income. A big difference in refund amount was that the gov withheld more, about 25% more than last year. Discovered the oddity that I signed up for the "CFC" but they never pulled a dime from my paychecks!? Still - according to accounting theory you're better off owing money right up to the point of paying fines or interest. All the money I get back is simply an interest-free loan I gave the government.
Why am I writing? I haven't left the house once today - hardly even left this room. Last night I worked 4.5 hours overtime, and I'm still backed up with work. I'm making good progress though my gym program is suffering. Oh, perhaps I should shower...
