Mar. 10th, 2005 07:54 amI don't listen, I wait to talk. I know better, but I spend so much time alone that when I start to talk to someone I kinda pop.
My icon still rules.
Glad I was too busy to buy stock yesterday. Investing is scary, but so is watching my dollars lose value by sitting still.
A straight black guy asked me if I was a college graduate yet - based on how old I looked.
Yesterday I was in a slaghterhouse. Slaughterhouses are filled with chlorine-charged water, the stuff is used everywhere to sterilize and wash away body parts. The guy I was meeting with apologized for coughing, and said it was from the chlorine, complaining about the smell. I said "Yeah, it smells like a swimming pool - only withe more dead bodies." I was told that under the regulations chickens with 3 legs or other extra body parts are acceptable in the food supply. They are having genetic mutations based on all the chickens being of the same genetic makeup. When I left I passed some chicken cages - a few heads, feet, and wings of dead animals were sticking up through the tops of the cages. I found out that there is no regulation about humane slaughter standards for anything but beef. The plants I have been to all have humane slaughter for chickens. The process I have seen the most is hanging them on shackles upside down, then the conveyer belt takes them into a blue-lit dark room (supposedly relaxing them). They then have their heads dunked in electrified water, knocking them unconscious. The belt then takes them through a pair of spinning blades which slit their throats, and a guy with a knife finishes any off that didn't get a deep enough cut. The unconscious chicken bleeds to death, then its body is taken through a scalding hot-water bath (helps remove feathers and sterilize. Feet are cut, then the bird is put through a cold-water bath before being sliced and diced.
Give me a reason to love you. Nobody loves me, like you do. I like the touch and the smell of all the pretty dresses you wear. Black as night, black as coal, I want to see the sun blotted out of the sky. She talks in her sleep to the ultraviolet kind. Then vicious snakes invade her world, with cigarettes and purple pills.
