The state of VA continues to make it a living shame to be part of this tax-base (I tried to vote out the trash that was on my ballot): http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=817&e=6&u=/ap/low_riding_pants You see the only dropped the bill because it was gathering INTERNATIONAL LAUGHTER. Yes, not only is the US so insane the world laughs at them (when they're not being invaded) but this state in particular stands out.
It's rather amusing to see an Ohio Supreme Court Justice argue with her arresting officer over DUI charges. Since she refused to take the brethalyzer test, Justice Resnick will automatically lose her license for one year and faces up to six months in jail and a $1000 fine. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050206/ap_on_re_us/justice_arrested_1
Police Video: http://www.daytondailynews.com/localnews/content/localnews/resnickvideo.html (requires registration, so no I haven't seen it either since I don't register for sights). She runs on saying "My God, you know I decide all these cases in your favor. And my golly, look what you're doing to me." She's pushing the age-old "US" vs. "THEM" argument that is so common in US politics. You see, many of our laws are designed to isolate and punish people unlike the majority (you know, like faggots and dem colored) for things the majority may or may not do. Crack is very illegal, coke only so-so. So here is someone who punishes drunk drivers about 3 times the nutty limit, 2 times a more realistic limit for intoxication - arguing essentially that she is 'one of them' and otherwise exempt from the law.
Politically unfortunate note: she's the only democrat on the court.
and I'm going to go to a happy hour in a week or so with people from my HS.
