My response to an old friend - co-worker/subordinate asking about how to avoid bad recommendations from a shit-pit of employment )

I think some of what I offerred him as advice in dealing with a bad situation may be good advice for non-work social situations too.

I don't think anyone reads what I write. After posting about politics, I scanned my f-list and saw many of the same things I wrote 'discovered' as though they were new. No one seems to get the St. Patty day issue. It seems everyone but me is filtering. Why write if people don't read.

Mood=dejected, I mean I could just talk to my fucking self. Cut me if you don't read this shit.

EDIT - GRUMP Grump grump mumble...
RE-EDIT: I wasn't complaining about people not commenting!!!

I'm a spoilsport - I also thought I posted this in here but it seems I put it everywhere but:
Why St. Patty's day sucks:
(ignoring drunk frat boys for a minute)

St. Patty was actually English, born to wealthy parents, and taken to Ireland as a prisoner against his will. His act of 'ridding Ireland of snakes' like many biblical references was merely a metaphor - in this case it meant rid of 'heathens' the vogue term for pagans at that time. He was responsible for the usual torture and murder of thousands of people based on their religious beliefs, and celebrated by the church.

The holiday is actually on the date of his death. Oddly enough, the first St. Patty's day is rumored to have been celebrated in the US.

A weird sort-of apology:

An email has reminded me that other people have that 'email comments' function on, and since I don't I forget that LJ has it. A couple notes about how I'm not ignoring you:

1. I may miss comments that occur the next day or later. Unless I specifically go back and look, I will have no idea it was made in most cases.
2. I often comment back to a string of comments that seem similar by commenting on the last one. This sends an email to the person I responded to (I think) but not the rest of the commenters.
3. I often edit a post to incorporate comments made after it is made, or make a comment myself to address the comments made above, combining several responses into one comment.

So, I might have responded to your response w/o you knowing it!
