Got it - but no blinking. Oh well.

I'm still listening to this thing on loop. I'm a simple creature.

so anyway... the reply i deleted said IE doesn't know how to do blinking text, and to try Firefox

and I guess my link wouldn't have had so much crap at the beginning of my link had i told it to use "http:" in the href... go fig... lost mind.. divide by zero error

(and replies don't support blinking text either apparently)

Hehe,
Ya - the "http" thing does help!

And flashing or blinking software and/or codes are all changing even in private industry due to the whole 508 compliance thing.....it has the same affect to some epileptics as does the strobe light!

These are the specs required now: Software shall not use flashing or blinking text, objects, or other elements having a flash or blink frequency greater than 2 Hz and lower than 55 Hz.

Sorry, I'm a lazy IE person - since I don't get paid to code or whatever. Thanx for helping me try to blink.

I'm in class, but I went listening to that loop for about 8 hours.

The EITAAC Standards sec.508 doesn't prohibit blinking text, but limits the rate of flash (as you said)... which supports my original statement, IE is "broke".

it has also been suggested that 55Hz is not a suitable upper limit rate since it is the frequency of european electrical power(220v/55Hz). And even though the standard has been (partially) adopted by W3C, it is only required for Federal websites (read - doesn't matter to me).

I have tested Netscape (to)7.1, Mozilla (to)6, Firefox .8 (earlier versions were called Firebird), Konqueror (to)3.2, and Opera (don't recall the version). All support blinking text(Konqueror 3.2, and Firefox .8 were just released weeks ago).

but thanks...

It was in the email I sent you hun, but Dan is right - IE does not blink. It will blink in other browsers though like Opera and Netscape.

Most people (well...not most people, just us Gov or Mil Web Designer/ Developers) do not use the blink code anymore due to the 1998
amended Rehabilitation Act/ 508 compliance
issues
