That felt weird
Nov. 4th, 2002 12:12 pmI sent in my applications for law school at Harvard and GMU. That feels really weird. I almost feel like bragging “I just APPLIED to Harvard law.” Just saying I applied shows I have the qualifications to be a competitor. Neato. Perhaps we could all come up with a composite score by combining our standardized test scores, gpa, income, and hell body fat %, and brand it into our fucking foreheads - just for my benefit. Gives a whole new meaning to “I do NOT date anyone below 25.”
GMU asks if you EVER have been CHARGED with a misdemeanor or felony. I doubt they would EVER find out, but just in case I did report that I had a DWI charge about 4 years ago, closed with nolle prosequi (probably spelled wrong but means they chose not to prosecute). Imagine if I get into Harvard or Yale, and not GMU – that would be amusing. I find it really fucking disturbing that they ask if you have ever been CHARGED rather than convicted. No other school has requested information, though they all do ask if you have been convicted of a crime or academic dishonesty. Then again, the VA bar is the only bar in the country that requires you to take the exam in full business attire. They're nuts.
Jill accused me of thinking Harvard / Yale / Stanford are like some distant planet. Well, I do. Until recently I didn’t know anyone who had attended an Ivy league school outside of my family (and my family is alien to me). I think most of my college impressions really were formed by tv and movies. Sad.
