I used to consider my weird hair a symbol of my independence, as if this made me better than mainstream society somehow. Now I make the same argument about my lack of skin ink. So me 20 years ago, what does funny looking hair say exactly besides look at me? What would it say today?

Date: 2013-06-28 11:00 am (UTC)When I was 17, I definitely wanted to dress in such a way as to send the message "Look at me!" Today it just says, I do things the way I like them, and for no other reason.
But I too find a perverse pleasure in being one of the dwindling number of non-inked folks in the alternative tribe.
