No. Remind me that "towers, collections, and gift baskets" are a bad idea. The prices were so inflated to begin with the big discount is pathetic - check the price per pound. You'll have to scan and search for the poundage, and the prices will be lame. Also, don't forget to discount all the crap that isn't any good. They will have hard candies, mixes, and never forget the shit-in-a-wrapper that godiva "gems" turned out to be.

Buy good quality crap to get fat on.

Oh, and you don't look like a teenage girl.

Why I usually buy the boxes post-Christmas (when they're still overpriced, but only a little bit).

Yeah I'm already looking at the post xmas, but I didn't specify and that's what I meant (I'm "typing out loud" anyway). Right now the mail order items are going on sale because it's too late to ship for the holiday.

I had to buy during the normal season, so I got two of the "$10 gift card for every $50 in purchases" to shop for myself with later. :)

What happened to Godiva, anyway? It was a number of years ago, when it suddenly became ubiquitous instead of rare.

I relish the opportunity to splurge on really good, expensive, locally hand crafted candy for myself and loved ones. It's what the holidays are all about.

Godiva is good at marketing and alliances. I also generally get local chocolate, but try to balance super dooper with not incredibly expensive.

Godiva isn't all that bad, or at least it's better than the grocery store grade candy that they put in the office candy dish. My one boss seems to like that cheap chocolate, so I figured Godiva would be a bit of an upgrade. I made my own "tower" of Godiva for his gift instead of buying any of their prefab ones.

Godiva is mostly wrapper - they use artificial ingredients where cheaper chocolatiers and even mass marketers use better. However, godiva has utterly won the market war and many people value it based on that. I'll eat it and it's better than hershey's, but honestly the hershey pot-o-gold is about a half a notch behind their standard and it at about 1/10 the price.
