So it sounds like only getting my news from the Economist is actually a pretty good call, though I should probably start watching Stewart & Colbert.

Seriously, the more I learn about cognitive biases, the more I wish I'd had them beaten into me all through grade school. It would have been way more useful than a lot of the stuff we studied. I'm sure I fall into a lot of these traps.

I know I do, but not so many because I'm smarter than some conservative redneck.

The thing that alarmed me were, not having looked up the cited studies, demographics. The sarcastic news groups tend to to be younger than the pundits I'd imagine - are old people more set in their ways and wrong for it?
