A VEGETARIAN SABER TOOTHED CAT!!!
ohmygod fucking yay pant pant
I was worried I would not be able to do DL today
My back has been weak and hurt for about a week as of today
but to my joy, I not only made it through the "3" day of 5/3/1, but I also made the 5 sets of 10 reps at the end with lighter weights and best of all
I think I figured out what I was doing wrong. I think I found the source of my back injuries!
I was dead serious about resetting between reps, and was using the deloading part to pull my butt down to teh ground by pulling my hands on the bar. Somehow this was associated with a release of the arch of my back which then was jerked or wrenched back into stress when I went for my next rep. The relaxation would explain why I was more likely to get hurt on a 50-70% lift than a 75-95% lift.
Also, I wasn't squeezing my butt enough. Low and behold when you really squeeze your ass on a DL it pulls a lot of the stress off of the lumbar region. That makes no sense to me, but at least today it worked.
Whew. I think I feel better than before I lifted. I'll be happy if after over a year I found the source of my back/DL problems. Imagine the gains possible! I'll be driving around the beltway waiting for someone to have a flat tire...
