Some criticisms have come in that Obama has essentially put the US in war without congressional approval. Wow. My problem is I trust Obama, but even if he is doing the right thing, I want that power limited when Jeb Bush is president in 2012 with Sarah Palin as Vice (while McCain gives tourists the white house tour). I'm ashamed I never noticed that we were sort of at war again without that silly separation of powers thingy in place.
I should get my politics from http://thismodernworld.com/

I think this has been a running turf battle since the 18th Century -- how can you be Commander in Chief, yet be subject to the will of Congress with regard to "declaring" war? Did that mean any time the President ordered troops into action he needed it to be a declared war first? It's tricky.

My problem is I trust Obama...

I would say that's a problem. Even if you insist on playing red vs. blue, I don't know how you can trust Obama after he turned out to be as much of a fan of neo-con terrorist theater as Bush was. I think, last time I checked, we were still in Iraq and Afghanistan, GITMO and military tribunals were still a go, and the Patriot Act was re-upped with Obama's active support. Domestic wedge issues aside, are you sure Jeb didn't actually get elected last time around?

As for 2012, deep down we all know we are going to be celebrating the election of President Trump and his co-Vice Presidents Natalie and Bree, AKA Charlie Sheen's goddesses.

I wish I disagreed more. I'll vote for the idea of Obama, that shadowy ballsy but liberal translucent ghost, as portrayed in thismodernworld

Unless things don't pan out in the usual way, meaning unless I have some supremely unlikely choice of potential liars-in-chief besides candidate Coke or candidate Pepsi, I think this time around I will take a pass and stay home with all the lights turned out, save for one, and read the Federalist Papers. Oh, and there will be some liquor in there somewhere, too.
