Went to the rally for sanity
http://pics.livejournal.com/vicar/gallery/00037kxg

Oddly, people ... like literally around 100 ... took our picture because they were in awe of our awesome signs. However, it was weird so many wanted to document the moment. We were even questioned if "we were real." Really? It's so odd to be friends and disagree? Are people confusing the internet isolationism with "outside world?" Do you people have jobs? Egads man...

We never actually saw or heard the rally. It was so crowded we just stood and fought our way about 6 blocks before giving up and hitting the lobster truck. Then we walked home. We'll hear about the rally on the news. I'm curious to see the count though...hopefully someone can put the rally pics from above next to the same shots from the Beck thingy. I'm thinking it was approximately a bazillion people.

I doubt the count is going to be meaningful. They can probably get an ok count for the Mall proper, but the Navy Memorial area was swamped, 7th Street was swamped (people on the street) from L'Enfant across to about F or so, Constitution Ave was a pedestrian area, there were people on the mall as far west as the Smithsonian metro stop, ...

Best count will probably be the Metro gate count deviation from a "normal" Saturday from 9AM - 6PM.
