Ok! So the snowmageddeon wrecked my trip to Jamaica. Janna was the sads and I was pissed off, but I can't stop loving this damn snow. It's mahem, sweet mahem, and I like it. Today walking was initially challenging (my new eddie bauer coat remains utterly full of win), but by the end of the day people were digging out their cars and two girls shoveled almost half the entire development - I joined at the end because I love that community thing, but they had really done a lot and I couldn't catch up. Our whole place was shoveled by people who just thought it was the thing to do - friggin awesome.

We've set a new trip for Williamsburg for now, and are rescheduling the Jamaica thing - maybe for APril. The reason that hurt so much is my job is utter poo right now and I've been looking for a forced reason to put it all down. Even while in the blizzard I've been working at home on a huge case and juggling my others - the two snow days most feds had to play with I worked 4 hours each day (taxpayer win). Today I only worked about 2 hours, but again I'm scheduled for leave but still working. I've had Janna excited about teh whole thing too - the blizzard was inconvenient but fun, and I talked the whole time about how we were going from snow to sun...only to have it yoinked out from under us.

So there was much being ticked. But...snow, snow is awesome. Seeing the birds on the sill as they dive for the donated birdseed, the red-headed woodpecker, the excited dogs, the friendly neighbors, (ignoring the douchebags who not only got their cars stuck, but left them half in the road while little-old-ladies took the time to dig their cars out), the fact that safeway is open but looks post-zombie hoards...it's all just cool.

After doing a store trip, digging out, and doing the remaining walks for a few hours, I made chocolate chip cookies, mmm.

I'm glad you're still going to get your vacation. Too cool that your neighbors all helped out. I have a nice strong back so I like to shovel out elderly neighbors' walks as well well it snows. Mostly I like the satisfaction of seeing the cleared walks but a part of me hopes some youngun' will shovel for me when I get old :)

I miss being one of those kids shoveling then blowing the quarters...or not, hard to say.

I'm a little fuzzy but it sounded like we had some serious conversation. You around? Talk sometime this week?
