I know snow pictures are fun and interesting, but I'm avoiding facebook (plus I only have my work laptop which forbids access for facebook) because I know it'll be nothing but ZOMG SNOW pictures and comments. Though, I'm trashing this with snow comments. I mean I feel like I understand the snow pictures "Look at this thing I see every day, only covered under feet of snow! See this street? No people, all snow! Look at this tree I know all leaning with snow!" It's interesting but not necessarily as fascinating if you don't see that particular thing every day. I did dig the snow sculptures put on the park benches though.

Some of the accumulation figures make no sense: Rosslyn, 18", Ballston (3 miles away) 28"?

Finished shoveling yesterday. Learned some minor things:
1) working out with squats keeps your back strong so shoveling snow is no big deal, no soreness, no muscle fatigue, cake. Not using grips on deadlifts is 100% win for shoveling for my snow.
2) passive-aggressive is deciding not to vandalize the car parked at a 45 deg angle blocking half the street from plowing - but instead shoveling out the orange fire hydrant next to them
3) bars were open and doing gangbuster business, including ours
4) nothing wrong with drinking at home either, especially while making a veggie dish and replenishing brownies (hey, we shoveled a lot!)
5) Gay and art-school mecca not filled with superbowl noises
6) Superbowl commericals filled with insane amounts of incredibly offensive insecure "masculinity" preaching. It seems a great way to sell things is to pat "men" on the head and assure them using x product is the essence of being mannish. Twits.

I noticed the same thing after shoveling on saturday! I kept using my legs, not bending over, keeping my back straight, and I made it a whole lot farther than I would have this time last year! and I only stopped because I reached the sidewalk and that was dave's section to work on - I am not sore from all the shoveling at all, and I was out there for almost an hour.

it's kinda cool to see all that time lifting heavy things pay off with practical application. I just hope I do not ever need to apply my strength to surviving a zombie apocalypse. but, just in case, best to be prepared. ;)

side note: yes, I noticed the inch variations too. it's weird. I know we got over 2' here, but they're reporting springfield got 17" - dunno where they're measuring...

Drifts account for some of it, and the dry stuff blew around a lot. Still, something has to be off.

Yay for fitness cashing in!

I'm happy I'm not the only one who saw the defensive masculinity rush during the commercials! Hell even the post was ragging on it.

I miss snow. However, the pictures on FB have made me very happy to be nestled in the warmth of the AZ sunshine!!!
