It's not that I never try, but if I've stated I don't believe that if there is a god the bible has a thing to do with that or any god...and if I'm debating with YOU about YOUR beliefs and you're trying to convince ME of something about religion...the following responses lose:

1. Romans 9:11. I made up this # but I think the chapter is real, but the issue is that I've already explained to you that I question the source of your information, and you response is circular.

2. I have this friend...if you'd just talk to preacher x... The conversation was between YOU and ME. I am not real fussy about pronouns, but if your belief system is something you can't explain to someone with a 3-digit iq then there is a great chance it is wrong. There is a better chance it isn't your belief system at all - it's merely that you are a personality addict, and you hope that the charismatic person who makes you swoon will have the same effect on me in person. Fail - I don't have that deep spiritual hunger that makes a solitary person's "aura" make me swoon.

3. You should come to a service... No, I've been to many services, and moving songs to which I don't understand the words aren't magic even if enjoyed, yelling preachers don't add any logic to the discussion, and I'm sorry that you're addicted to some routine or ceremony that feels real but like a meaningful look in a twilight movie has to substance to it, but that trick doesn't work on me. Again, if you cannot even articulate your alleged views or the reasoning behind those views, you lose.

Yeah, but just think of how hard it must be for them to debate with you and all your "facts" and "logic"... Logic is the tool of the devil and facts are well-known to have a liberal bias.

Sorry, that must get old. I try hard not to be that guy. My gig works for me, and if you ask about it, I'll tell you, but if someone indicates it's not for them, I don't try to change their mind.

I do wish, when these things happen, I had your wealth of information - the problem is that if I refer to your expertise then I'm committing the same issue they are (only, my source of information is educated, intelligent, and more often than theirs...right).
