Yesterday for the depo I situated myself directly underneath a picture of Obama...The jackass I depo'd never gave a straight answer the entire day - made for a simple case to morph into an 8 hour depo. You know that moronic "trick" people do on Judge Judy where they repeat questions to try and stall and make up lies? He did that all day - yeesh.

I ran into a dilemma though - I have an opportunity to take a job to Alameda, CA. I didn't realize how close Alameda was to SF, but it turns out the guy here may retire in a year or three, and the position might nudge to a 14. It wouldn't be the same work I do now...it would be easier. I fell in love with SF once, why? Is a place really that different? Can I survive the CA taxes?

Stuff to think about.

Wow wow wow wow wow... LOVE SF. Love the entire SF bay area.

The CA taxes are worth the experience of living in SF.

Miss. It. Soooooooo. Much!

I'm kinda ignorant about such things, but would the current budgetary problems give you pause (I mean, I know state budget =/= federal budget), but still?

Nope - though I have been told, and seen, the taxes are indeed high. They get a lot for what they spend too...the rails run all over.

Omigoodness yes. A body can breathe in San Francisco. The greater part of the population there seems content to get on with their own business without interfering in anyone else's. Your psyche can relax there.

It feels a lot like Amsterdam to me, but less seedy. Both cities are reasonably small, visually stunning, and culturally diverse, of course, but what strikes me the most is that while they're busy and stimulating, they make me feel relaxed, mellow, and a great deal more positive.

This was the case for SD and Laguna too- we were only out there for a week for our honeymoon, but that bit you mention? About 'being able to breathe'? Yeah- you can FEEL the change in air quality almost.

Isn't SF gay city? I'd like to live there some day. ILM's headquarters are there and I want to work for them someday.

Yes, it's very gay but most major cities have gay areas. I've been getting my gay on mostly in B'more lately.

Oddly I got no gay on in SF at all, but it was a very businessy trip.
