Yay for intentions - Obama is post-election talking about halving, HALVING, the deficit. Granted a lot comes from ceasing the war, but I'm thrilled that he is talking about some other responsible measures such as allowing the top income bracket tax cut to expire and reducing spending.

I'm still being impressed by this guy - how did a decent human being get through the public eye and vetting processes? Will he be another Carter?

Unfortunately, not everyone agrees on him being a "decent human being". This morning I saw Alexandra Pelosi's documentary Right America: Feeling Wronged, and I still can't get the bad taste out of my mouth.

I don't pay for HBO, but I'm not sure if you're saying the conservatives who don't like him (the preview said conservatives with no mention of moderates) don't like him, or if there are other problems not revealed in the program. Is the bad taste from bad things about Obama, his supporters, or his detractors?

Carter was a decent guy and could have been a good president, he just didn't play the Washington game well at all. Clinton played the Washington game extremely well. I suspect Obama isn't going to be as good as Clinton, but he is highly likely to carry the 2012 election on popularity, especially if he gets just one or two things very right in the next two years here.
