Couch today - whee! Oops, it's over 20" longer than my old couch. We carried it up 2 flights of stairs before finding it was too long to fit around the stairs...luckily, unlike the ikea couch it is replacing, it was disassemble-able! I very like this couch, and if I don't it seems not only can I wash or change the cover - but I can replace the pieces like legos.

You want a car from the US? Well show me one that gets 20 mph to the cheeseburger, with a side of fuckyou. The brand is "You want summa dis?," model "Right here, buddy!"
Ever notice the same people who tell you that the poor quality of USian cars is based on an out of date reputation, while they preach that McCain is a god because he was a POW many decades ago?

I got my bar certification letter, so I could send in my application tomorrow - and I think I will. Re-thanks to Heidi and El for their KSA advice. I am very glad I kicked my own ass and got that done when I did, glad I listened to the advice I was given, and glad I re-did the stuff early too so I can apply right fucking now.

One of my easy cases settled unexpectedly (by our Civil rights group, who has no right to interfere with my case, but I don't mind) so I have more time than I expected to have in December (whew). Then I got a new MSPB case, so bye bye time for the next 2 weeks or so. Neato.

I successfully ditched caffeine, but...why? I _like_ drinking, just in general. I like flavor. So, I'm thinking of telling diet soda to fuck itself, but revisiting actual soda - is it bad for me? I also don't see any real harm with caffeine, so why not guzzle more of the iced tea? It's funny - I don't miss the stuff when I'm tired, as I wake up pretty easy.

I'm worried I heard a squirrel in the ceiling, which would explain the 3-4 am wakeups. There wouldn't be babies, but I'm afraid I'm not willing to try and suffer through that again.

Yesterday in the gym I did deadlifts -and had the treat of using a brand new 45lb bar, complete with new cross-stitched metal grip that was so new it was like Velcro on my hands. That might sound painful, but it gripped so tight it made life really easy on my hands. I had far less trouble gripping the 265 lbs than I'm used to.

Psst...the kleerup mix of this song has me HOOKED

Yeah I could be in a club right now but I'm not...

I'm overdue to arranging gay dance club night,
and I'm thinking of doing a not-christmass party again

In small doses, no. Prolonged long term and large amounts of doses yes.....I have a post on this somewhere.....crap. Sleepy.....

Thanks! I don't really want to put a ton of time into researching it or burden anyone else...I'm usually more interested in reliable but off the cuff advice.

Off the cuff advice: I used to drink 2-4 sodas a day and ate til I was full/stuffed at every meal. I weighed in at around 175-190. My face was doughier and had very little definition or bone-shape visible.

Gave up soda and began eating well-rounded meals, stopped eating when my plate was empty. Lost 25 pounds. It's been gone for five years or more.

There's more I could say, but if we're just talking about soda, that's almost enough. Now, when I pick up a soda and drink it, I remember how heavy I used to feel. I can feel that shit coating my teeth, lacquering my insides as it goes down. I can remember being slightly addicted to it.

Carbonic acid, benzene, high fructose corn syrup...

I agree with fractalwoman that here and there, no problem. Daily? Between the chemicals and the empty calories, not to mention the blood sugar spikes, you're not doing yourself any favors long term.

I don't mind the risks of the cokes, they I will have rarely (think mixers). However, I was more thinking of the weirdo chemicals in the no-calories fake soda. I really wasn't clear, but I should have said I was cusrious about both.

as an occasional mixer they're ok; as a daily drink both regular and diet sodas are less than good for you

although if you want soda that's not so bad look for ones made with real sugar (not high fructose corn syrup or crystalline sucrose or any artificial sweetner) or sweetened with fruit juice

and remember most cans or regular bottles of soda are actually 2-4 servings depending on the size

man, soda is nasty. good way to get Osteoporosis. Actually, the soda that is really good is Izze brand---it's made from fruit juice, with no high fructoblahbhlahblah.
