The election is over - I am convinced that nobody is going to be convinced of anything now. Those that read have already examined the data, those that don't are already locked in to their gut reaction and subsequent vote. It's over. There is no point to discussing it any further except to feel as though your opinion is worth singing about, affiliate with your group, or alienate "theirs." Yelling OBAMA or MCCAIN right now is like going to a gay pride march and yelling jebus died for your sins, turn back...you don't seriously expect to change someone's opinion now, do you?

Want to do something meaningful in your politics right now? Discuss which congressperson you're voting for and why, which council member, which county board member, hell which school board member and why. Do you know? What data did you base your decision on? Which views of your choice parallel your own compared to those of the opponent? Which of your opponent's views do you disagree with?

Shut up Joe - nobody believes in you anymore. You're not a plumber, you don't make exactly $250,000 a year gross, you are a registered republican and have always been so, and...oh and nobody carved the letter B in your face backwards.

My friends, you may have heard some harsh criticisms of my friend Joe the Plumber. It seems he's made some mistakes, like any American, like any one of us could have, but the Liberal Media saw fit to tear him apart, air his private life before the entire country, ruin his privacy, and for what? Because he exercised his God-given right as an American, to confront a presidential candidate, and demand answers that would affect his livelihood. Joe the Plumber asked an innocent question, an intelligent question concerning my opponent's tax plans, and instead of answers and peace of mind, he got intrusion, he got scrutiny, he got the the Left-Wing media breathing down his neck.

My friends, we can stand here and debate numbers, fret about percentages and decimals, or we can look at the big picture: America doesn't want to be afraid of their government, afraid to ask the tough questions, for fear that the media attack dogs will punish them for it.

My friends, it's time for a change. Stand with me, hop on the Straight Talk Express and let's ride straight on into a new day of opportunity, of optomism, of freedom. Thank you and God Bless America.

Here in California, there's a ton of work to be done around the giant number of propositions in the air.

And Washington and California aside, I think there are several places in the country where a few voters on either side of the Obama/McCain thing will make a difference.

VA is still weird where the only issues are bonds - and I say no to them all regardless of if I support allocating the funds because I think we should be taxed NOW to pay for things if we want them rather than incur debt to pretend that we don't need the funds in the budget.

I think I'm voting John Reeder (reeder4arlington.org) for Arlington County board. 2 reasons.

1: he bothered to send me information
2. He's green party, and I'd like to see more of them in local politics.

I vote for whoever is not a Democrat in Arlington. I don't like the one party system here.....

That is only on the county level...

I'd encourage you to research the data and policy arguments myself - if one party has superior ideas that parallel your own, and you vote to try and empower fiscally irresponsible bigots, I'd question your judgment?

I feel the democrats waste too much money in Arlington. A voice from the other side is a good thing. If congress became 100% democrat or 100% republican I'd start to worry......

I wish they did compared to teh repubs, only the rep's say they're against taxes but then funnel all the $ they can to special projects...they actually have a record now of spending MORE than the democrats, only doing it all on credit to keep their no tax promises. So, the anti-government republicans spend more than the dems...

If there is a simple right answer, I don't care if all the parties or one big party have it. If the idea sucks, one would think the party would vet it out themselves before they made it into a platform.

I saw a guy, on Friday, holding up a "McCain/Palin/Harris" sign over by the grocery store. I dunno what the purpose of it was, as I don't see how that would sway someone either way on any of those candidates.

You're right.
