Bend to the will of the system

I'm supposed to fly out tomorrow to do some depsitions, and I was informed my credit card was declined. As someone that keeps a zero balance on everything this was a bit surprising to me, so I called the credit card people.
They helpfully informed me that my account was closed.
Closed?
I asked what the balance was, they said zero.
Ok.
Zero, and the account is closed, pray do tell why is the account closed?
The account manager closed it - thank you for calling and have a nice day.
I checked in-house and was informed they cancelled all accounts of people who didn't travel last year. I started in mid-October of last year, so duh I didn't use the damn card. I asked if anyone had thought to perhaps inform people when their card was being cut off - particularly if they were already in travel status? Wouldn't this be fun if I had been cut off while in the air? I'd love to be stuck in the airport with cancelled card trying to get the rental car, hotel, or return flight back on the government arranged travel with a cancelled gummint card. The answer was that one of the 20 memos that are sent out every week that no one with a life would ever read mentioned that anyone with zero activity might be cut off as they increase controls on the gummint cards. How careless of me not to notice.
Now I'm trying to get things straightened out (we have a 2-3 billing cycle delay time she sang) so I can travel tomorrow. Bend over and meet the system. I write people up for getting their cards cut off. I've asked if I can please write myself up.
