Ow. Sure, I said, biking today rather than boxing would be a great idea. I need something low impact. I'm not sure where that translated into "bike to Bethesda, MD," but that's what we did. Kirstin and Brian had those spiffy space-age bikes that weight like 20 lbs, where I had a lumbering 50lbs (my guess, 35 lbs Kirstin's guess) fred flinstone bike. Upon arriving, it turned out Bethesda row was having a street festival - we walked into a stage with a bunch of white girls trying to step dance to C&C music factory. More importantly, all the restaurants had foods out - now in 96 deg F the chile and pizza didn't look so appetizing, but while we guestimated that we nullified the effects of biking entirely - Ben & Jerry's was good along with a shared root beer float. Yums. We biked back along rock creek park. Then sat in the shade and told vile not true stories. Like about that group of teenage girls in pink tank tops doing the car wash. Talk was followed by a cold shower (hello summer, hot is bad) and a long-ass nap I just crawled away from. Tonight, food and probably local beer drinking. Not so likely, but still possible, the spellbound to hear Steve's return. And talk to the ever kind and entertaining Donna. But for now, ow. That was what, 50-60 miles? Happy tired.

Boy is my face red!
No really, I got some sun after sweating off block
and I thought 26.7 was just his count for the trip back from Bethesda?

Alas, Colin says his bike to work (in Bethesda) is about 12 miles each way so I'm afraid the lady is probably right. Miles are big. Like, way bigger than kilometers. It's ridiculous.

I should really get on a bike for a leisurely morning ride but, well, not until the weather gets more reasonable.

Actually the heat isn't so bad - on a bike you have tons of wind since you're just zooming along, plus most of the path is in the nice nice shade and that combined with the woods really keeps things relatively cool. The hot parts were stops, but zooming is relatively comfy.

26.1 miles would be about the distance it would be for you to bike from your place to just outside Columbia, Maryland.

If you don't believe try this :

26.1 miles is a pretty fine bike ride. Also keep in mind the trek up to Bethesda if you went up the trail that comes off the lower part of the C&O canal, which I presume you did -- is all UP HILL THE ENTIRE DAMN WAY NORTH. Which is majorly "ow", for really real.

I did that ride, one night, at 2:30am. It was on that path that I met a deer with big antlers who wouldn't move out of the glow of my bike light. Pretty creepy.

Miss those late night bike rides. I sure sure do.

lol so you were riding a mountain bike versus their road bikes? It never seems to make a difference which bike I ride; I'm still doomed. lol
