Jun. 5th, 2008 06:11 amI don't know what a freak is? So, I'm in Lawrence KS and after the hearing I went out to eat with a coworker. We walked up and down through downtown Lawrence, which like Omaha, has taken their walmart-destroyed main street and made it into an artsy shoppe and cafe center. There were dirty hippies, inked freaks, and colored hair all over (I forget it's a college town too). We went to a beer pub for beers and foods, which had surprisingly good food. The other surprising thing there was a fix of indie/emo kids, very inked freaky looking peeps, colored hair, and normal looking families. I don't know where, in my DC area, you could go to a place with a mix like that.
Anyone notice that tattoo parlors are offering laser tattoo removal? Isn't that like a krispy kreme donut and weight loss center?
Edit: no problem fitting in now, I just put on my tattoo-esque t-shirt, strap on one of these and I'm good to go.

Date: 2008-06-05 01:05 pm (UTC)I didn't know you were in the KC area - I have restaurant recommendations! Thai place off of 64th by Antioch. KC's got some neat areas. Everyone goes down to "the Plaaazzzaaa" or "Westport" but I liked the neighborhood between State line and SW trafficway on 39th street better, who knows if it's still how it was 8 years ago. Depends on what you like - driving down State line watching the progression of houses obviously built by decade (you can totally see the difference between the houses built in the 30's to the 70's), Ward Parkway has some fantastic places, and the Nelson-Atkins museum of art...
