I always hate VD. I don't like flowers, I love chocolate but not as a obligation. I consider myself actually romantic - I do something for my partner because I thought of them, not because my secretary or MS Calendar reminded me. A hand written letter is love - a hallmark card can be purchased in the grocery store. I don't care about the "single awareness day" angle much, though I sympathize with those who find that annoying. YOu might as well gripe about every other majority religion holiday, or get together with the family you hate / don't have day...oh what, you do? I do? Huh.
Yes I'm bitter, but the house is clean. Do not be alarmed, that is in fact the smell of fake lemon. There is some real lemon in there, and soon will be bleach as well - but for now the oils, floor finishers, and dusting materials have laid waste to all smells in the apt that are not lemon. There is some odd floral laundry mixed in. And my taxes are done.
I'm sore, tired but unable to sleep, and otherwise not feeling so hot. 100 channels and nothing on tv, dozens of dvds and nothing to watch, games to play but sitting makes me tired...without the sick, today was the perfect day to work out. W(h)ine.

Date: 2008-02-15 12:19 am (UTC)I mean, yeah, it's pretty arbitrary, but i have gotten to the point in my life where i find my decision making process to be a lot less "why?" do something than "why not?". So i try and have fun with things that come from Out There and also make them my own.
Holidays give us the opportunity to think about a specific concept and meditate on it. Especially with the internet being what it is, you can know for sure that there are lots of opportunities to communicate on that concept, knowing there are others out there thinking on the same subject. Kind of like national novel writer's month or whatever.
Just because it's traditional doesn't mean it has to be banal.
