Is this when the rats move around, or around 3-5 in the morning is it just when I've passed the desperately needed sleep point and finally wake up to the noise? I cannot keep doing this. On the positive side - I have pets!

Lost this auction but at least I have a better idea of the type of memory I'd need to upgrade this computer. It takes pc800, but my current chips are pc1066 - turns out the stuff is rare and spendy. At $1-300 for just .5 gig, why not just buy a new computer? I'm going to take one of those build your own pc courses because even though a built system is about the same, at least I'll have a better idea of how to swap components. Well, unless a really cheap system falls in my lap.

Noticing that while I've gotten every other muscle in my body sore, that no matter how many ways I hit my chest to exhaustion, it doesn't get sore. Remind me these fast gains in my squats are not so much muscle gain as increased muscle fiber firing.

Had a lovely gay brunch at Freddies yesterday, but...
First, people always say I look gay, often noting my physique as one of the "signs." Well, the cute 5 gay boys I ate out with were all just skinny. In fact, of everyone there, I was the only one with muscles unless you include the butch women who looked like plumbers.
Second, my age is obvious no matter what nice things my friends say. Nothing makes your age obvious like a table full of younger gay guys discussing age and politely avoiding you entirely in that part of the conversation. Yeep.

I get avoided in converstation so much I don't have any idea what they are talking about when the ignore me.

I think that you had no interest in rats as a pet even if you were willing to get one. Is there nothing that can be done at all about these rats? I don't have any ideas because my step father would take care of that & I don't think there was any at mom's house. Do you want me to send you some of Titus fur? I'm kidding, but that might get them to move.

You don't look your age. Okay, you don't look 20 either, but you certainly look many years younger than what it says on your birth certificate!

gentle reminder ;)

A lack of muscle soreness is not an indication that you failed to work the muscle sufficiently.

Really? This is baffling and brand new info to me. I'm trying to decide if I should go running to day despite the horrifically bitter cold, because my ass, quads, and calves are sore (hamstrings work just fine though). Similarly, my shoulders, arms, and most of my back is sore - all from the same workout, though there was more moosh spent on my chest.

Can email too, Ms. person who knows stuff. Or not - I know you're busy :)

Yes - in fact I revisited the plan you offerred, and I was doing about 75% of your suggested moves already (didn't know the names of many). I've added in some that I wasn't, and have shaken up my routine quite a bit. Switching from a free bar to dumbbells hurt the shit out of my chest in a good way (I usually just do dumbell presses on a 45 deg bench, uh...incline?) Doing the bench last after shoulders and squats lowers what I can do, but makes me feel it more in the chest as the supporting muscles are already thrashed.

I'm not trying to just do more - in fact I'm basically not doing more than 3 exercises per area. I am bringing weight up and reps down a tad, and trying to rest less between sets. Upping intensity while trying not to be so exhausted overall that I fall or drop something.

Muscle soreness is one of those areas where there's a lack of full understanding. However, research does indicate that soreness is more an indication of the _type_ of work you did with the muscle -- soreness is associated more with eccentric contractions than concentric contractions -- than of the absolute effectiveness of your workout.

[your biceps are contracting concentrically when you curl a weight, and eccentrically when you lower it in a controlled fashion].

Also, there are quite a few knowledgable people who believe that persistent soreness is a sign of over-training -- you gain strength by maximizing the benefits from a combination of stress and recovery, and persistent soreness indicates that you're not allowing enough for recovery.

Many people find that an easy jog helps with overall muscle soreness (I have myself). It really is horribly cold out, though (I just got back from the barn -- 22 degrees).

I did a jog anyway, 4 miles, and I hurt more now than when I started. I try not to overtrain and generally don't do weights if I'm still sore, but I wasn't sure how that would apply to cardio that used the same groups in different ways. Then I remembered the brunch on Sunday and figured good or bad I was paying my dues.

I am pretty good about my negatives.

I'm really sick of paying dues. I feel like I should have one hell of a credit balance.

Another positive note, if you can get them to scurry across your feet it is god luck. It is also said that eating from their food is a blessing, and the water they drink is holy :)

There is much to love about the rat. Fantastic animals, really.
