I tried to be good, but I've given back in to my sinful nature. I know better, understand the reasons why, and know it is physically possible to be good - but I just couldn't stand it anymore. I turned the heat back up to 68. I tried to keep it at 65. If I've talked to you on the phone lately, I was under a blanket when I did it. I wore 2 shirts and a jacket in my own house. Why I can hike in shorts and a t-shirt when it's 50, but in my house 70 seems chilly, I don't know. I'm sick of being flannelled. I'm sick of my hand always hurting when it's cold and I try to use the computer. Most of all, I'm sick of waking up all night because every time I move a blast of arctic (65 deg) fair comes rolling under the covers with me - prompting a short wake, cocoon roll, and shivering until the chill is fought back. Fuck all that - I turned the thermostat back up last night and got a good nights sleep. I want to save energy. I want to save money. I want to be used to a colder environment so when I go outside I don't feel the chill as much. I just can't stand to be that cold in my home.

I'm not going to the hospital as much, and today at 11:30 they move my dad to a Baltimore rehab facility (that he may never actually leave, long story, don't ask or comment).

What do you do when you get home?
Yesterday I skipped the gym, had no events lined up, and just went home after work. Actually I stopped by the video store, but they didn't have grindhouse or Hero, so I gave up (does hollywood video suck?) I read and watched tv, did some telephone talking...but it just seemed like I had a full day there at home doing nothing. What do normal people do when they get home? Or, what do my friends do? Do you watch 6 hours of tv? Read 3 and watch 3? Work out every day? Cook? Commute so you only arrive in time to sleep? What are people doing when they only work an 8 hour day?

When I get home I play with and feed my cat, take a shower, change into sweats, eat some food, do laundry or dishes if needed, and then watch X-Files DVDs, write fanfic, read books, and act like a butt on the internet all evening long.

The sad part is I absolutely love my life. :D

Generally:
Say hello to Oscar
Make dinner
Eat dinner
Chill for a while -- maybe have a computer game or two
Practice the piano
Say night night to Oscar
Stay up for an hour or two longer, messing about online, reading, making tomorrow's lunch, and/or taking a shower

Or, for practice the piano, substitute "watch Lost"

it usually goes:

Get home
Dick about for an hour
Go to gym
then, either
a. dick about some more
b. do school work
c. hang out with someone

then I dick about on the internet some more and then go to sleep.

Get home.

Throw something in the microwave; in the 6 minutes it takes to cook, do a minimal bit of housework.

Pull dinner out of microwave.

Check email, websites, and such for about 20 minutes while eating.

Work.

Hit bed about 10:00 pm unless work keeps me up longer. Do about 5-10 minutes of pleasure reading in bed.

I'm taking a week off training. Normally I train twice a day, so evenings are often spent choking people. Holy shit is there ever a lot of time in the evening. I hardly know what to do with myself. I tried watching some TeeVee, and that was OK for a while, but if I had to do that every night I'd put a plastic bag over my head just to alleviate the boredom.

People here get cold at 70, but I don't bother to wear sweaters. If Titus is under all the blankets then I assume it's too cold since I can't tell. I'd rather it was a little cold than over heating because I don't know the temps. I wake up at least 3 time a night & it's not because of temp.

On days I volunteer I just relax & do what I can to help the people around here without getting caught. On days when I don't volunteer I work on my books even though I try to take breaks I end up doing it anyways. Some times I go to the Pizza resturant just to hang out. Unfortunately I end up writing poetry then.

You do have a programmable thermostat, don't you.

There is no normal day, and I don't think I know until I get there!

From: [identity profile] vicar.livejournal.com
That's the old house - new one is old-school manual. Also, I've heard with a heat pump it uses more energy to change the temp than to just leave it constant.

A Note for Heat Pump Owners

When a heat pump is in its heating mode, setting back a conventional heat pump thermostat can cause the unit to operate inefficiently, thereby canceling out any savings achieved by lowering the temperature setting. Maintaining a moderate setting is the most cost-effective practice. Recently, however, some companies have begun selling specially designed setback thermostats for heat pumps, which make setting back the thermostat cost effective. In its cooling mode, the heat pump operates like an air conditioner; therefore, manually turning up the thermostat will save you money.

It appears I'm back to square one. I try to manually make it efficient by slowing making it change in tiny increments, because if you move too much it turns on "aux heat." But it seems the constant efficiency thing is my best bet. That, and open windows in the day for the solar stuff.

I can't do anything on MySpace or Facebook at work, so when I get home I deal with all the stuff on there that people want me to do or pay attention to. Then there's reading, eating, laundry, tv, talking to bf.

Get home.
Change over to 'comfy clothes' (sweats, t-shirt, etc.)
Throw a load of laundry in if necessary
Check email, Myspace, etc. (as a lot of it's blocked at work)
Sort mail, pay bills

Read, play video games, or train

If my wife's home (she sometimes works late), spend time with her eating dinner and watching TV.

What do you do when you get home?

Lessee...my summer/winter routine is slightly different from spring/fall, because I tend to schedule my time around what I laughingly call my "exercise routine." Since it's cold and dark by the time I get off work, these days when I come home I put in 35-40 minutes on the stationary bike or treadmill (while reading); play on the innernetz for a while; cook (or heat up, depending on exhaustion) and eat dinner; read and/or watch whatever crap I've Tivo'd for a couple of hours; call beloved boyfriend; sleep around 11:30.

Friday is a big night for me because I do laundry and watch "What Not to Wear." I know! You just wish you had my life!

I take a nap as soon as I get home from work. Wake up at around 9 or 10 and play around on the internet. I might eat dinner or not depending on if I'm hungry. If I get super bored of internet, I'll work on a sewing/art project. No tv.

I get home so late in the evening due to traffic or working late. i change in to comfy pants, big socks and a fleece shirt, then play with and feed the cats, scoop cat boxes and brush one or two of them each night. TV is usually on for background noise, and I'll play video games (ET and WoW), IM with friends, chat on the phone, catch up with email/LJ. I make plans to meet with friends, make dinner, make lists of things to do. Housework sometimes too.

Now that I've re-entered the dating world, the above has all been compressed to a short period of time, and add time to get all tarted up and going out.

Usually:
* Get home around 5:30.
* Feed cat.
* Change into scrubby clothes.
* Do any chores that are necessary.
* Write for 2.5 to 3 hours OR read OR watch DVD OR some combo thereof.
* Give cat treats.
* Make dinner.
* Watch Countdown.
* Play with cat.
* Watch DVD or TiVo OR read OR chat on intarwebz.
* Brush teeth.
* Go to bed around 1:30 AM or 2:30 AM.

That what I do during the week.

when I am able to go to krav again, my tues/thrs nights would involve working till 6pm, getting home & changing for krav, driving to krav for 7.30pm class, doing the class, driving home and possibly stopping for something to cook for dinner on the way, getting home around 9, eating, showering, chilling doing some sort of whatever's been neglected the most, bedtime.

my mon/weds/fri nights are always different, depending on if 'm meeting someone, doing a chore, running errands, etc.

lately I tend to run errands once I am off work before I get home, cuz once I am home, I dont want to go out again. I usually make dinner at some point. laundry is sometimes done during the day cuz I can come home at lunch, sometimes at night - usually 1x week. we dont have cable so I tend to watch DVDs or downloaded stuff, or dave playing a video game. I read, research on the internet for projects, write, and lately it's been a lot of crafty things cuz I have presenty things that I want to make that um, need making. I listen to music a lot at home, and... um, yeah. last night I spiced things up by painting my toenails and nails "big apple red". SO BRIGHT.

but really? every single night is different. and as we step further into holiday season, that's going to increase even more so, I just know it. @_@

it is nice to have a night sometimes where all you do is fart around just existing for a little while. [oh, and I go to the gym in the mornings, vs. night-time now... so, yeah.]

Honestly appreciated and reciprocated, though not on the internet. I have a mental vcr.

if i have to work somewhere else (usually my every-few-weeks onsite freelance gig... in an office, not close) i'm usually not getting home til 8 or so. food is made/consumed, then possibly something from netflix. i'm not so into the work-for-other-folks-all-day-paint-all-night thing, anymore... but sometimes i'll put in a few hours in the studio, especially if there's a show i need to be ready for. lately (except for a freelance day, last week), it's pretty much just been the painting...

Every day is different.
If I haven't worked out in the morning or lunch, I do it after I get home.

1-2 nights a week I get home, grab food, maybe do a chore or two, and head right back out the door to fiddle lesson, session, or whatever is going on.

On nights where I don't have an obligation I usually don't get home until 7 because of errands to be run.

Once home, I generally try and sort through whatever tasks need to be addressed, what chores are neglected that need to be done, feed myself (which can take a while as I like to *cook* sometimes, or make a batch of Pesto, or something that requires real time), check email, study, practice fiddle, maybe work on a construction project like putting a coat of paint on trim - projects that require small amounts of time with space in between, ie for drying. This gets old because you are constantly cleaning up after doing x project every evening. Some nights I get a wild hair and actually *do* a project to completion, like paint the stairwell, put some trim up, etc. But lately I've been too tired to get these energy bursts. I get up @5 am to exercise, so I try and be asleep by 11.

I'm always so jealous of people who can "relax" once they get home.

Upon Home Type Arrival (which could be anywhere from 6ish-8ish-10:30ish) so it really depends:

* Give Kittens Pets! Lots and Lots of Pets!
* Give Kittens water and food (or treats depending on time)
* Vacume
* Clean one area of the loft
* Set up computer and check email stuffs.
* Run (depending on weather/darkness/lightness)
* Stretch/Do arm weights/leg lifts/situps
* Turn on TV/Radio for background music.
* Make dinner
* Depending on day - get ready to go out to see live band
* Get into evening lounge clothes/wash face (hate wearing unnecessary makeup)
* Work on web stuff on the computer -- either training/reading/programming/designing.
* Write/Read for class.
* Watch a bit of TV if something is interesting.
* Talk with a few friends via AIM.
* Get ready for bed.
* Read a book in bed.
* Pet, play with MEWS
* SLEEP
