Saw the movie ratatoie at the drunkhouse - highly recommended, both the location and the movie. I like seeing a fake french movie in an era where the work cafeteria serves "freedom fries." The theme from the movie was decidedly american "Anyone can cook." It was a nice idea, that while not everyone is born with such talent, that anyone who does have such talent should be given an opportunity to express and develop that talent. That's one of the USian ideals I am proud to hold - a sense of egalitarianism. We're not all equal, but anyone can excel at most anything with enough effort and determination. I like the rags to riches mythology, and while I won't pretend being born rich isn't a huge advantage - but I like that dream that we all could be what we want with enough effort even if the playing field wasn't level to start with.

What's funny is while I know I'm watching bad movies on purpose, the cartoons I watch have some of the best scripts of anything you can see in the mainstream media. Unlike a really good indie film, this was light and fun, yet well written. An indie film would be brilliant, but heavy and usually sad. I'll take an irreverent cartoon with cute lines or a fun concept.

Or I'm unaware that I'm a moron, but I did have a good time.

Real nurses aren't as sexy as in the movies.

Wendy got her pasties in the City Paper - they were listed as "Craftiest Bastard of the week" in an ad page 40! Cherry Blossom pasties are a hit!
