What am I doing in LJ exactly? Not reading. Notice my new icon - a plushie fat cell! (from giant microbes)

Holy god did I do the right thing by not going out last night, not staying up, not having that drink. I nearly gambled on chronos because I was sure, but not totally sure, today would be brief and easy.

Today's brief depo was in fact the full 8 hours long, making my work day about 11 hours. My witness was great, and the opposing counsel was a waste. She's either not getting the very obvious or she's padding the Complainant's bill. This stupid case is quite expensive only because of the legal fee waste. I think my favorite part was opponent's counsel reading the relevant paragraph in the settlement agreement that noted all claims prior to June '06 were released...she asked for a break after that.

Then I came back almost-home straight to a condo-party.

What am I doing with LJ...taking notes? Telling my friends what is going on? It's time I used that phone thing. Still, when I'm working 11 hour days I can't do much else.

Frankly, it seems you use LJ to:
1) get a whole idea (or rant) out without being interrupted.
2) Convey something once that several friends would find interesting (efficiency).
3) Note it here because, after all, you're slower than many and figure this can go down as your permanent record [yes, humor, not serious...]
4) You can still prompt discussion and feedback with one textual grenade rather than shouting in a club.

I always worry about crossing the line between posting interesting observations through my day and telling people what is on my grocery list.

I also no longer need to communicate this way. I'm used to it, I like it...but I can go outside the house and use the phone. Perhaps my problem is thinking about it?
