Lots of talk about HPV lately, but I'm sorry if this makes me stupid - I never heard of oral HPV before. I only recently realized that there is no test available for men to determine if they carry it, no cure, and it is tranmissable without any symptoms at all. Now this study talks about oral HPV, and the possibility you can get it KISSING (the focus is on oral sex). So you can have an untreatable asymptomatic potentially fatal STD from kissing.

Yeah, sorry, I'm going to die - plain and simple. Might as well smoke.

I could not find which strain they said caused the throat cancer (or even if they tested by strain). The vaccine is only proven against strains 6, 11, 16, and 18, and but so far it's been shown to protect against other strains as well. Viruses are damn interesting.. hm.. creatures? Not sure how one defines what a virus is - like, half alive, half chemical rxn.

I truly don't understand the "don't vaccinate because it will lead to risky behaviours" mentality. It actually just says "since I can't have total control over my child, I will deliberately keep them at risk so that it'll help me discourage what I deem as un-moral behaviour". They don't trust their ability as parental figures to teach their children, and they don't trust their children to behave responsibly when given choices. Nice.

I'm right there with you Vicar - may as well smoke at this point. ;-D
