It seems I bit off more than I could chew. I just spent the last 3.5 hours in the new place sanding down the walls. I took off my shirt and wound up looking like the hulk, only...more smurfy (short and blue)! So yeah...I did it, holes are patched (mostly thanks to Jen), walls are sanded to the point you can see speckles of the white paint behind the blue - but it took far longer than I thought. So I'm one lucky puppy that it iced and work was called off short, followed by class cancellation. Now all I have to do is wash the walls and tape them off when they dry. Painting will be a friggin breeze, especially compared to today. Then I just have to sweep, mop, and start lugging stuff up.

Oh crap...and that stupid quarter round. Well that's easy too.

Anyone know a good wood floor treatment? Mop n glo ok?

I would use Murphy's Oil Soap. It's fairly no nonsense and makes wood look pretty decent.

hardwood floors or laminate (ie: pergo?)

for hardwood that's not coated in layers of laquer/sealant murphy's is the right answer; but for pergo etc and anything heavily laquered it'll leave a film; go by home depot and pick up what the floor guys recommend or you'll have to do it again

Real wood with lots of finish on it, so it's shiny. Seems I have confusing floors. I remember you refinishing the apt...

check w/ home depot - they make products for heavily sealed floors (it's usually a poly of some type) to keep them looking good without major work

Howinhell did you manage to survive being an angry suburban adolescent without learning to patch drywall?

If only...these places have plaster. Solid, but obviously it has it's drawbacks.

(truth is while I've damaged it, I don't actually know how to patch drywall. Installed it once, with help, but don't know patching per se)

There is no substitute for Murphy's Oil Soap.

It might leave a residue on this heavily finished wood floor? I have some, but its instructions seem to be more oriented towards untreated wood?
