homigod I like saying homigawd

I'm sad Turner is paying for the idiocy in Boston, but I also am saddened that the guys were such idiots at the press conference. Stupid hippies. I stick by my icon, but it's not as cool as it was just moments ago. My theory on Boston is this: they knew full well it wasn't a threat, but wanted to show a large reaction in order to punish the counter-culture geeks. It worked.

I'm just plain tired. I may nap today. I feel fat - haven't worked out as much. The stress is wearing on me.

My favorite holiday is this Sunday! You know it it is? It's national USian "shop for groceries in peace after 3pm" day. I love this holiday - every year I know exactly when to stock up on groceries. Yay!

I feel good though, overall. The financing is locked and paperwork mostly done. The renter is in and we're sharing a moving company. I have feelers out for paint/repairers. Although I have 30 days to complete this home-buying mahem, I think it can be done in 30 days.

I filled out my law school graduation papers. I'm not going to the ceremony, but I may register if that is what it takes to get tickets - so I can sell them.

It is all within reach. 6 months away I'll be done. I can see the end and the beginning.

My theory? Turner may not have planned for it to be taken as a "terrorist plot", but he probably did plan for it to become a major media issue one way or the other, and probably did plan to pay some sort of fine for it. Let's face it -- as marketing, the signs themselves were fairly worthless. The only people who had any idea what they were looking at were the ones who already watched the show. But . . . Throw in a day or two of media furor . . . Now pretty much everyone in the country with even a vague connection to the news media has heard of the show. You can bet viewership will spike to an all-time high. He's probably thrilled.

There is no bad press...but a million? How much would standard advertising have cost? How many more viewers do they expect?

Funny how yesterday the costs were at $500k. Now that some one is willing to foot the bill, they suddenly double.

The kind of advertising that this thing got was more than super bowl ad notoriety, so a million is still getting off cheap. But yeah, way to puss out Ted.

Oh yeah . . . If viewership of the show goes up significantly, he'll be able to charge higher advertising rates. Advertising on a popular national television program can cost well over $100k for a 30 second spot. He'll make a million back in almost no time. A million is pretty much a slap on the wrist.

How do you figure the guys are idiots... Their lawyer told them not to comment on the incident. They had already heard the media comments about their hair, and decided to answer questions regarding it and only IT. I say that was brilliant.

I don't think Turner should pay the bill either. I do however think the person who sounded the alarm needs to be fired. And there is not argument for "these dangerous times since 9/11". The responders have a budget, they used up some of it doing what it is there for... responding to such incidents. I would say it is time for those who are in charge of sounding the alarm to become more informed.

Think about it, when "V" was walking around DC near all the federal hot spots he was not even asked to remove his mask. (a film worth watching by the way)

There is a difference between not commenting on the event and mocking the public. Now, I'm the first to say the public needs to be mocked, but at the same time they aren't winning any friends over their conduct. This case will not be solely decided on law - it's too public. If they acted remorsefull or even confused they'd be a lot better off than "those smart-ass hippies."

I didn't know the press commented on their hair.

Can we call it "Omega Man Day"? We should do something special, like walk down the middle of Rt. 50 pushing a shopping cart full of canned goods and improvised weapons.

I like that idea...but shouldn't we do something to make it special? I mean that could be any Sunday...
