Jan. 30th, 2007 06:18 pmOoomigawd! I just visited the new place and love it even more!
The kitchen - turns out it's not just nicer hardware - the damn cabinets appear to made of real wood (maple?) The shelves are adjustable to about 1/4" increments. I could live w/o the track lighting, but it's liveable for now. I think I need trim around the base of the floor, but other than that it is just done. Wish I could explain the corner block of counter that appears to be like a raised tile on the other counter. It appears to have a purpose, but I have no idea what.
The lighting additions are nice - I'm going to smash the one in the hallway I'm sure, but before I do it will be pretty frosted glass that really does a good job in the hall. The bathroom is nicer than I realized - tiles all in good shape, faucet appears to have been replaced, and I didn't even notice the cool corner glass shelves lined with chrome. The shower rod was replaced with a nice chrome bar as well...I may not modify a single thing in there! I didn't realize how many nice mods they made.
Oh my god I love the kitchen.
OH! And the bedroom...the bedroom CLOSET!!! It's been completely redone, apparently by custom hand work. There are what...8-10 shoe-sized shelves in the bedroom closet! Did I mention the owner was a hawt Italian girl? From an Italian girl to a gay guy...not a lot of modifications needed! The bar...what is that thing called...is split so you can hang your clothes in two levels, and there are shelves everywhere. Domestic squee!
The views are lovely as I thought, and unlike my unit the living room window is a picture window with small windows on each side (giving you more view) rather than my double-hung. The poor paint on the doors I saw isn't nearly as bad as I remember. The electrical plates and switches are mostly redone already.
The only thing I saw that was worse than I thought was the hilarious squirrel gnaw marks on the living room window. You wouldn't notice it w/o opening the window, but something to think about.
There is less to be done than I thought - and I'm even more in love the place than I was. I also have more power and freedom than I thought - I have 3 days to back out for any reason from the day I receive the condo docs, which was 4:30 today, rather than counting when I signed the offer. Who knew. So this deal I love all over again I can still back out of.
Wood cabinets with adjustable shelves. Shoe closet. New windows. Perfect bathroom. Oh hell no - that bitch is mine! My Lochnar! Give me the lochnar, you bitch!
I also have agreed to rent my place from March to Sep 10th for 1400 monthly, no painting! I can't believe how perfect this all is...so much homey excitement! Oh crap...class starting.

Date: 2007-01-31 03:13 pm (UTC)Its funy - in between me doing all my taxes, I often do them for friends because when I get frustrated, I do someone else's that I can finish up in 5 minutes, and then I remember that I make my situation complex with rentals, partial rentals, and stocks.
