Put a contract / bid in last night - making me miss chronos (that and deciding to buy a house makes my head all spinny). We'll see how that goes - if they take my offer I move in fast, if they don't I have lots of money/security. I'm still fussing with the interest rate on the loan. My credit is too good to settle for the average loan rates: turns out after buying a house and car while never missing any payment of any type, ever, and accumulating funds, I got my credit a middle score of 785 (I hear that's good).
The thing is, I look at the payments I'm going to have to shell out now, my current funds, and my soon-due student loans. I was about to be rolling in cash, just now realizing that all the money I socked away, in case I had to quit my job to finish law school, no longer has to sit there for my security. Given my bizarre finance plan, I would be liquidating most of my non-retirement stocks over the next 6 mos. For the first time in 4 years, I'll actually "need" my job. I'll also have to learn how to do the taxes on an investment property and play landlord (slumlord even, via Nadra's view). Add in the work I'll have to do or pay for, while working and in law school!? Who-boy. Ok, the work is mostly just painting, sanding, replacing crappy light fixtures, adding cabinets here and there, possibly thousands in a heat pump...but it's quite a big deal when you try to budget the few hours you have every week after the job and homework are done.
I like the fact the place gets more sun than my current unit - has more view too, and tromping up the stairs doesn't bother me. Moving would be funny - two guys and a truck, minus the truck. It would just save me the trouble of having to redo my own kitchen, a project that looks bigger and bigger the more I look at it. It also would put me upstairs, 3 stories away from my bug problem. I thought they'd have no humidity problems like I do here "in the basement," but there is evidence of humidity in the place. Still, it would be an improvement with little transition if I could pull it off. I already have a renter lined up for my old place too! Today I'll probably hear back.
Wish me house-luck.
Remember that 2g flash drive I said was so cheap? Well they arrived yesterday. They work, but it is the slowest flash drive I've ever seen. I never knew there could even be speed differences between the two, but this thing crawls compared to any I've ever seen. Bletch!
If you see these two teenage girl-lovers, 16-year-old Rachel Smith or 18-year-old Rachel Crites, please give them all the money in your wallet and wish them the very best. I know I would. Good luck Rachels!
Whee hee! remodeling!
Date: 2007-01-26 02:22 pm (UTC)The Springfield location is the only place they have this:

The "yardsale" is in the back of the building, and you go in the door that's for Will-Call. Bring your tape measure. Prices are in the neighborhood of $60-100 depending on size, upper cabinets or bases, etc. They have bathroom cabinets as well as kitchen. New cabinets come in as often as daily in spring/summer, or at the least weekly.
Or if time/cost is a factor, you can do the cabinet refacing as an option:

~good luck!~
