This AM I sent in my confirmation to GMU.

Michael Moore is more damaging (oh cool my lava lamp just did it’s first morning magma explosion) to the left than Rush Limbaugh was to the right. I’m a bit put off by the headlines this morning – he is listed as receiving boos when he pushed his war stance, but I saw the brief footage and it sounded like a mixed response to me. His emotional string tugging makes any logical discourse next to impossible. I hope he dies in a SUV collision. “But what about the children [sobsniffle].” If the guy wasn’t a jackass, he could have said something unifying like “While I oppose the war, all our thoughts and hopes are with our troops and of course the Iraqi people” or some such. God forbid we try to win people’s opinions that don’t already agree with us. When did people give up on debate and move to pep rallies?

Are people idiots? I’ve had someone tell me in my absence they turned on my lava lamp and thought it was broken because nothing happened. Today I entered the office and turned it on, prompting my boss to note it ‘wasn’t working.’ Um, I never thought the inner-workings of a lava-lamp were some sort of mystery. Is the understanding of the mechanics of a lava-lamp a rare kernel of knowledge? Am I graced with hippie schooling somehow?

I need a numeric rating of how attractive I am. I just want to know what I’m supposed to shoot for. People typically date people as attractive as they are, and I’m not enough of an asshole / abusive male to have a really hot girlfriend (besides the endless stream of stunningly beautiful people I have dated up until this point). On the other hand, shut up biatch or I’ll smack yo ass again! Damn, woman! Sometime in the future I’m going to poll on that subject, asking for anon replies since no one believes me when I say I’d rather hear the truth.

Yesterday I did my first 4-mile run of the season, so all of yesterday and so far today I can barely walk (or as I like to say, “I look like I got some”). I don’t understand why, when I so often run on the treadmill for 3 miles in 30 minutes at an incline of 3, I am killed by one little real run. My cardio system is pretty there, but my legs were killed. I would have stopped but I was just too stubborn to admit I couldn’t make it. My pace was NOT impressive.

No chemcial/mass destruct weapons found yet. I'm not sure if we should be disappointed that the US won't even have an excuse for their actions, or relieved that we haven't faked anything (yet). Any claims we make will be highly suspect, true or not.

Actually they may have found a WMD factory last night. There now awaiting testing on the facility to confirm it.

Also dont forget the Scud missiles that have been fired when supposedly Iraq distroyed all of them a long time ago.

Ah - true that. I'm shocked they haven't fired at good old Israel, yet. Perhaps they have and that hasn't been publicized. Yes, me paranoid.

Well, Scuds were never intended for the kind of range they used them for during GWI, which is why they did such a poor job hitting Israel. It is unlikely that Iraq has very many of the al-Husayn Scuds--the ones modified for medium-range--left over that are in good enough shape to make it all the way to Tel Aviv. That, and Saddam may have done the math and figured out that Sharon tends to be a lot less measured in his response to things than Shamir was, and might just level Baghdad.

As far as the chemical plant goes, I'll wait and see. Remember the aspirin factory in the Sudan. I must say that it wouldn't surprise me a bit if the CIA is forced to fabricate some evidence before this is over.

"When did people give up on debate and move to pep rallies?"

I had almost the same though yesterday in Times Square. People were having a pro-war protest to counter the anti-war protest (which had dwindled down to three sorry looking souls holding up "No War" and "Anti-War not Anti-Troops" signs, and all I kept thinking was "WHY are you protesting for something you are getting? Isn't that called a celebration?"... Honestly, I think the Collective IQ of the planet is a constant, but population is in exponential growth...

Michael Moore makes me cringe. He can be pretty funny at times, but he defaults towards the most petty kinds of appeals to emotion, a tactic that makes it look like he has no actual arguments to support his position. The Limbaugh analogy is apt, as well, since Moore shares Rush's penchant for making up post-hoc "facts" to back up his blather when he gets backed into a corner.

And at least Rush looks like he's bathed recently.

I nominate Janeane Garofalo to replace Moore as de-facto spokesman of the liberal fringe...

This being why I go out with Kyle ;)

(Heh, not really, he's a fantastic guy all around, but he'd rather the world not know it . . . *snicker*)

Also, a numerical attractiveness rating is a hard thing to quantify . . . you'd have to ask a series of questions, not just one. F'r example, I find you more attractive *objectively* than I do as someone *for me*, because although I've dated all over the map, I definitely have a 'type' . . . so I'd give different scores on those two different questions.

FWIW, *I* think yer cute, though ;)

Hey - congrats on sending in the GMU response. Kinda allows that decision to reach some full closure. As far as Michael Moore, I started reading the article that [livejournal.com profile] chadu had posted on his website in regards to Bowling for Coulmbine, and decided that I do still want to see this before reading the article in its entirety - but the article may be something you want to check out.

People are idiots..the majority at least.
