vicarzYou know what? Putting a bunch of spotlights on an industrial military complex does not make it "pretty." Saw it by accident this morning, and just thought it was another car sale or ghetto festival. Just a few years ago it was the symbol of conservative evil, where horrid old men engaged in secret plots with unspeakably evil people to facilitate world domination. Now, at best, it is where decent people do ugly things that have to be done to protect decent USians. Either way - not a pretty place.
I don't mean to sound not-patriotic. I work for the government and am proud to do so. I like a lot of military folks. I am also one of those yahoos that put flags up everywhere after 9-11 because for all our disagreements, nothing unifies a bunch of dissimilar views like a common enemy. I hate them more than any of us, and them blowing civilian shit up helps me prioritize. Still, no, it's not like a starship. It's not pretty. It's just not.

The guy I work with, who drives like his personality, was in a pretty serious auto accident. I've ridden with him, and wondered if my life was in danger. It seems that yes...yes, my life was in danger due to his driving.
