Watched mirrormask last night. I'm sad that with all the steaming piles that represent entertainment today, that this movie didn't get much fanfare. I'll admit the story wasn't a knockout - very predictable english fable with few twists, but the acting was good and the effects nice; neither was overdone. Think a lighter muppet version of hellraiser. If you feel like a light read, this is good. Keep in mind - I watch a lot of cartoons. Wish chiaro was still on - this would be good wallpaper.

The oddest thing was that Stephanie Leonidas looked inappropriately alluring as a tomboyish teen, but when laced up in goth gear the attraction was utterly lost. I can't show the hottest views of her, but they come early in the movie when they do great angles with her face, then show her in flattering circus gear.

I noticed that too, but it may have been in part because the gothiness was so overdone. But she was utterly charming on-screen. Made me feel dirty.

She was, in fact, a turbo hottie. The gothiness didn't really do much for me either. Either like blackjack said because it was so overdone, or I'm just growing tired of goth chicks.

I don't know if the gothiness of the make-up is to blame as much as the heavy application of it. It wipes out all the emotion and expression from her face and eyes. It was, however, appropriate to that part of the movie. On a more personal, sharing to much, note: I haven't creeped myself out that much since watching Natalie Portman in The Professional.

Don't feel guilty - in the professional, it was quite intentional. This movie had a similar effect on many - and she was at least 20 when filmed. And hot.

Which movie? Cause Natalie Portman was about 14. Ick, I'm creeping myself out again. And, damn it, I left an o off of to in my first post and don't know how to edit this infernal thing.

The girl was 20ish in Mirrormask.
No way to edit - sucks. On the other hand, you can ask it to spell check when you post. But we all expect sloppy typing.

The professional was shot to highlight the tension between the crushing teen and Leon. I think she was older than she looked, and some um...hints...were quite on purpose. You dont' go to hell for noticing - only for acting on it. In some cases ;P

In others, like mine, I was just as big a whore when I was an early teen - there was no corruption involved. Wish I knew to announce that to the crushes I had that reciprocated but witheld for the sake of decency.

Spell check won't catch words that a spelled correctly but happen to be the wrong word, a major annoyance to an English geek like me. I'm waiting for the computer that can type what I'm thinking so that there is no operator error involved.

Hell, man, Christina Ricci was 11 when Addams Family came out. THAT made me feel creepy.

from those pics, she is much prettier with less makeup. i haven't seen the movie and i wouldn't say that those particular pictures are overdone - it just didn't suit her, and in the first at least she didn't really look goth, the hair is wrong. maybe shes one of those girls blessed with a face that doesn't need much help, or maybe she had a better makeup artist for the natural look.

Actually, in Mirrormask, the actress in question was ~21. So, there's absolutely nothing wrong with lusting after her, regardless of your age.
