Boring stuff
Jun. 19th, 2006 10:08 amScared of our national debt? I am, but here is an article arguing that our debt is not a bit unhealthy or scary when compared to GNP, history, and an international view:

I am not any less worried, but it is an interesting (brief) read.
Today is nice and quiet in the office. The guy I'm training under seemed surprised I had so much done - everything he asked for I just yanked out as requested. On the other hand, he is behind. The good thing is he was attending a MSPB training seminar downtown tomorrow, and said 'since he was busy that maybe I could go instead.' Bloody excellent -I get training and a shorter commute near home for a day. Oh - maybe I can see my guy for a haircut! I could even shop in Filene's basement... cancelled, I'm acting as Branch Chief :(
This AM I registered for fall classes. I've tempered my hope for an A in evidence with the large number of people who may have beaten me out, and the fact that even if I do, I have some tough competitive classes this next term. If I scrape up to the with-honors level this term, that is no guarantee that I'll stay there until graduation.
I came up with classes and a stategy for spring.
MW 6-8 Business Associations with the crappy professor.
TuTh 8-9:15 Wills, Trusts, Estates with the good professor
W 8-10 Professional responsibility
(I had a choice between Prof Resp and Commercial Paper, which is the school's version of a bar prep course, . My thinking was this: fall has nice weather. I don't want my fall to suck. I could have taken the 7 week long pain of Commercial Paper, but I would be hurting while the class was in session. This would make more sense to do in the Spring, which starts in Jan. Who cares if I miss life outside when it's freezing? I wanted to take Prof Resp in the spring, because when you do you are exempt from that section of the bar exam for 1 year {as you take that exam as part of the class} but I was only scheduling the class so late as insurance in case I failed the bar. There will be no failing.)
No day announced yet - Legal Clinic, regulatory law.
(If legal clinic is on a day/time that is compatible with my schedule, I'll ditch Prof Resp and take legal clinic for a light course with an easy A. I have heard about the class, know the prof, and it's a cheap score)
This weekend was gorgeous, though I'm oh-so-tired right now.
Fri started awful, with my 19 mile commute taking 1.5 hours, but then the evening was filled with wonderful food and conversations.
Sat my boxing class was canceled, and I spent all day on the computer doing bookkeeping, chores, and studying for class. Then the evening started with dinner with Angie, Parris, and hte girl at wonderful outdoor cafes in Shirlington. At night she had to crash early, so I stayed up to kill laundry and lots of zerg.
Sun I started in the gym, where it was hot-super-athletic-girl-in-gray-and-blue-outfit day. Odd. Finishing there, I did the electrical work around the house I've been putting off. Now the rusted out bathroom light is replaced with chrome and shiney goodness, while yet another room has a dimmer switch. We then went out for a hike at Little Devil's staircase. Getting there had the unexpected problem of a recently texturized gravel road - which left patterns of ridges that made the car vibrate if you traveled over 20 mph. The hike was good, though some citronella ignoring deer flies intruded on occasion. We ended on a maggie moo note, once again paying homage to Shirlington. And so on.
