but you fail to mention he was convicted of invasion of privacy, a class c felony. the only one that really got off (no pun intended) was the employer.

My take was more than he should be sued, but often assholes don't have much in the way of liquid assets. Now, I don't see how the employer is responsible when the acts were outside his scope of duties and certainly unforseeable, never mind how they took immediate steps to remedy the situation and fire the weirdo. People tend to sue the deepest pocket rather than the most guilty party.
