Oct. 11th, 2005 09:24 amDay 1 back in my old job.
I stopped in to see new-boss, and she spouted about all the problems she is having there for about an hour. Then she went to breakfast with a friend. She is having trouble getting the work done in the time allotted.
I listened and smiled and offerred little. I felt immune to the negativity she was spouting, not minding being the audience. I guess I'm on her good side this week. She said she'd sneak me into the flexitime arrangement I wanted, neat.
My first case upon my return is to propose discipline against an employee accused of farting at people on the line and asking if they can smell it, while also asking people to sleep with him. I...I feel like I'm back at home!
I am in an insanely good mood, walking around smiling like an idiot.
Last night I went to see a movie with Kel and Lou. Kellou. Loukel. I had to turn where a road was closed to tear down a building by Ballston. It was hard not to stare, so I parked and walked down the parking garage to watch the destruction. I must have watched the wrecking ball for 30 minutes. I was amazed by the level of accuracy of the wrecker - the ball was swung to hit one of two supporting concrete columns, and in 3-6 hits (bugger never seemed to miss) the column would break and only be held by the metal reinforcement rods. They would then lift the wrecking ball up, and drop it inside the teetering structure, and soon floors of material would come tumbling down. Only when all the floor was gone would he chop a layer off of the stronger area around the elevator shaft. I probably lost a year of life breathing in asbestos, but wow it was fun witnessing the destruction. Then we all watched the history of violence, which I suspect was critically an awful movie, but I enjoyed for meaty comic violent goodness.

Date: 2005-10-11 03:21 pm (UTC)Is this for real? It sounds hilarious! I'd like your job.
Also, "A History of Violence" (the Viggo M. movie?) got really good reviews by most critics.
