Oct. 6th, 2005 10:31 amYesterday my boss...the one I've liked for 3 years, said she heard I was looking for another job, told me she'd be sad if I left, and asked if anything was wrong. I went and had a heart2heart with her. We'll see how things go when I return Tuesday, under the bitch-boss. Admittedly I kind of miss my old work.
Here's a rarity - this meme is addictive, I've actually read my friends' results and found them interesting. No gaurantee mine will be stimulating, but laugh at me for giving in and quiz/meme-ing.
1. Name someone with the same birthday as you.
The London bombings.
2. Where was your first kiss?
I'm not sure. It might have been with Candy, on top of a transforer or grate we were sitting on. It might have been on the roof of the shed.
3. Have you ever seriously vandalized someone else's property?
Not on purpose, but once I stole a saucer-sled, used it, then threw it down a sewer out of fear of somehow being caught. Later in a heavy rain the saucer flipped up and blocked the pipe, flooding a few people's cars. A diver had to unclog the drain.
4. Have you ever hit someone of the opposite sex?
My sister, one time she would not stop trying to hit me. I'd keep restraining her arms, and she wouldn't stop crying and trying to hit me. I finally decked her and she stopped the trying-to-hit part. She had to start a school year with a black eye. I can't think of others outside of sanctioned fighting - and I have problems with it.
5. Have you ever sung in front of a large number of people?
No.
6. What's the first thing you notice about the preferred sex?
Preferred? In either sex it's the body shape and muscle tone.
7. What really turns you on?
My god, not only is it a long list, like Baskin-Robbins squared, but it changes depending on mood and partner. I guess one thing is making my partner come - many different flavours there but at least a central theme exists.
8. What do you order at Starbucks?
I don't. I am coffee illiterate, but I do get iced plain coffee on rare occasions. The girl that showed me iced coffee wasn't as gross as actual coffee was at VCU, where that poor 17-year-old skater/coffee-shop girl was just killed by a guy my age :(
9. What is your biggest mistake?
Wow. Single? I don't have any that stand out on their own. Some by consequence, some by potential consequence, others by length of consequence. Most of my regrets are things I knew at the time, but lacked self-control over. Big subject areas of regret are: educational direction, stock picks, my fiance.
10. Have you ever hurt yourself on purpose?
Oh hell yes, in many ways, both physical and psyc. For a while I thought I was in danger of committing suicide, so I came up with a "macho" way to do it with my 16" machette. I would try to pull it into my abdomen - I figured if things were really that bad my body would somehow know and I'd have the strength to push it all the way through. All I got were minor cuts and scrapes.
11. Say something totally random about yourself.
I never have gas when I'm alone.
12. Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity?
A lot, and I think they're either idiots or insane. I get Tom Cruise a lot...why? I understood when I had my 70s hair and a suit why people said I looked like Keaton / MJ Fox though.
13. Do you still watch kiddy movies or tv shows?
Boobaas, teletubbies - dood who needs acid. I watch a lot of cartoons, but most that I watch are meant for adults (cartoon network's adult swim is/are my drug(s) of choice)
14. Did you have braces?
Yes.
15. Are you comfortable with your height?
It varies. I usually date girls, and the boy is supposed to be taller. I think I like my height for all sorts of advantages, but I get annoyed with societal views of short. I be short.
16. What is the most romantic thing someone of the opposite sex has done for you?
The fiance (this was like 20 years ago) gave me something she shouldn't afford, winning an argument about how important it was to let her show her love in ways other than receiving.
17. When do you know it's love?
I don't. Perhaps when you've lost them and realize how much that hurts. I'm not sure love exists, or that everyone can feel it. I'm not sure I've felt it.
18. Do you speak any other languages?
Due to my name, I took spanish for years but I can hardly babble the most basic sentences. El lapiz es amarillo, y la pluma es azul.
19. Have you ever been to a tanning salon?
No.
20. What magazines do you read?
Consumer reports and whatever has naked people or pretty hair in the salon.
21. Have you ever ridden in a limo?
Yes, several times including naked with Thrill Kill Kult from 9:30 to the Bound party at the circle bar, but I hate limos as a rule.
22. Has anyone you were really close to passed away?
No, never, but some people who I did know affected me strongly when they died. Niel comes to mind, I had just played reunion with her at Chi-Chi's where we both worked. She asked me to go to Tracks with her that Thursday, and I had never been but always wanted to go. Instead we hugged, swapped numbers, and made plans to go out Friday. That night the driver "fell asleep" and drove off the road. She was belted in the passenger seat and was crushed / killed. Her family didn't care, azn and filled with disappointment at their americanized rebellious daughter. I didn't really know her friends, and the one I knew thought I was hitting on her when I tried to talk. I kept playing over all the things that might have been different if only I had given in to her pressure that night.
23. Do you watch MTV?
No, not since they stopped showing 120 minutes, liquid tv, and the young ones.
24. What's something that really annoys you?
Apathy and ignorance combining to give us our present world leaders. Or is that just the human condition creating all the problems, this nebulous batch of selfish urges with which we destroy all that we touch?
25. What's something you really like?
Those rare glimpses of hope and happiness that really make the pain sink in later when crushed. Wow I'm still morose.
26. Do you like Michael Jackson?
I don't know him. I used to love the thriller song, but wouldn't let anyone know because "he was so gay" as was his music.
27. Can you dance?
I can dance very well in my limited styles. I could probably learn anything if I wanted to.
28. What's the latest you have ever stayed up?
2-3 days straight driving a dying pick-up truck full of my mom's stuff from VA to TX.
29. Have you ever thought that you were honestly going to die?
Many times, or feared I was going to.
30. Have you ever been rushed by an ambulance into the emergency room?
Yes - a couple times.
31. Do you actually read these when other people fill them out?
Almost never, but for some reason this meme was filled out by people who don't usually do these things, and many had interesting responses.

Date: 2005-10-06 03:22 pm (UTC)As it turned out, the chef showed up late, the band was tired and not excited by us naked people, and the trip consisted of them holding their own trays of food while shaved naked me and this shaved naked girl drank all the champange in the back of the limo. Oh, and the a/c was broken.
It was really not that thrilling, though I was relieved about the lack of things to worry about.
