I don't want an ipod. I don't want a super-small ipod. I don't want an ipod that is a phone. I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them, Sam I am. I bought a tiny player, from memorex, and downloaded a few hours of music onto the thing. I hardly ever listened to it. The most I used it was walking to work, but not hearing stuff outside me freaked me out a bit. I used it in the gym, but preferred to hear the music playing that others hear even if a lot of the songs suck. I don't want to not hear what is going on around me. I don't want to shut out the world. I don't want the things I enjoy to be hidden from others. I don't want to isolate myself even more. I want to be aware of the world around me, and to interact with it even at the most minimal level. Even if I wanted to shut out the world, I don't know that buying into a monopoly (a small one granted, since their take over the world plans failed) is cool. I don't think that having the same goddamn product that every rich boy and girl and their mom has straped to their arm or tucked in their pocket is cool. I'm sick of white earbuds, moreso when you recognize that they don't face the right way and therefore hardly deliver bass to the eardrum. I don't want an ipod.
The IT guy who fixed my computer poked the lcd screen with a blue pen. It's bad enough having a blue ink mark on my screen - worse when you're thinking "How could an IT guy sent here to service the computer do something more ignorant than the average user might do? Oh yeah - they contracted this out to "save money."

Date: 2005-09-08 03:07 am (UTC)i saw a kid skateboarding today with headphones on, that has always looked stupid to me. what if while cutting across traffic he's hit by a car he didn't notice, because he couldn't hear it coming? i was always taught that if you were biking, walking or whatever near a road or other people doing the same, you kept your ears free so you could hear signals, whistles, horns, sirens...all that stuff that prevents you from crashing into another cyclist or being hit by a car.
i will buy some mp3 thing eventually - the cheapest one i can find, again.
