I stole the idea of not having a defalt icon.

It's funny, I had a great weekend, but I feel like something is missing. I never went out with THIS group of friends, didn't dance in one of my clubs, didn't hear my music...it was like a vacation away from home. There is part of me that wishes I had danced and drunk and hugged the same people. I can imagine feeling the same about cleaning the house or some other domestic ritual, but it seems strange that going to the club is so integral to relaxing.

Anyone else feel this way - do you have certain things that make your downtime yours, or that makes you feel like you've had your weekend? Is the club part of that routine or feeling? If not, what is?

Yes.

I constantly want to "do something different", but club life has become so routine that I feel if I didn't go out I'd miss something, not that I ever do. I'd rather stay home most of the time and watch TV or go to a small party of friends. It's strange since I really don't drink or dance except at goth/industrial clubs, so if I go to parties on the weekends instead of clubs, I end up feeling like I didn't do much, even though I did.

I feel like that, but I'm not sure it's about missing something in my case. It's just like something you do, like kicking your shoes off when you get home.

Going to the club both excites and relaxes me. It gives me time to socialize and a reason to dress if I want. Otherwise I like to clean something on the weekend. It makes me feel good that I did something useful.

I'm having some trouble defining my weekends since my club attendance has diminished. Which basically means I end up feeling like I didn't have much of a weekend. I'm really into ritual.

Maybe I should drop the whole "goth" thing and just be a unitarian instead.

Any religion with "unit" in it has to be fun. I'm all about the ritual - let's make some new ones!

When did you do "goth?" :p

Decades from now, young folks will ask about the origins of the "Jose's unit" ritual. Oh, the lies we will tell.

I am the epitome of goth and you know it.
On the inside, obviously.

LOL
I'll help you with those lies.

We should start a canasta playing ritual.

There was a time when I definitely felt that way. If I didn't go out to the club, I was antsy all week long and had a hard time concentrating (possibly scaring co-workers). I think, eventually, I got over my addiction and now can survive a weekend without the club. But, I think I have taken it to the other extreme, not going often enough. Once a month would be a far better balance for me.
